I know the pain will engulf me
That the pleasure will be lost
Only ashes will be left to see
I’ll be the one to pay the cost

But your heat draws me in
Pulling stronger than any force
There’s no way to stop once I begin
Through my heart and soul you course

I breathe you in and taste your love
Weakened by your silent strength
In your eyes I see the angels above
For one touch I’d go to any length

For you to love me I’d sell my soul
To dance under the stars just one night
I know the diversion is your only goal
But your flickering gleam has blinded my sight

Tell me I’m your one desire
Spin me a web of lies to hold
Just allow me to walk through your fire
I’d rather die burning than remain cold

Take me...need me...use me
Your wish is my burning desire
Heal me...consume me...destroy me
Each move you make takes me higher

I’ll never hurt enough to let go
I will keep playing  this loosing game
Because my darling...don’t you know
I am but a moth and you are my flame

Butterflies,
I have read this poem over and over again, and each time I find it so beautiful. What a great expression of love. All will be fine.

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love

This is great all the way around......
Great expression, rhytmn, rhyme, and a metaphoric ring to it all.
Not to mention I know this flame well.....

Wonderful post BDC...
It goes straight to the heart.

Like that last part Butterflies
"Because my darling..don't you know
I am but a moth and you are my flame."
That is such an interesting metaphor as the moth is always drawn toward a bright light.

The rest is just a wonderful classic of the helplessness of an undying love....this poem really states the depth of a loving connection ...the kind we can't explain but keep trying to.....great! job!   ethome

It seems as though that there will always be
at least one love in each of our lives that
will forever be burning no matter how much time
passes.  You have penned an anthem(as JM said)
that will forever be cherished by many.  Your
heart and your soul are true golden treasures
of heaven and I will forever hold true to the
pieces of it that I have been able to enjoy.

I could go on forever as you know, but will not,
as some things are just known as fact.  Fly high
my friend of pastel wings.  Whether it be on the
wings of a butterfly, an angel, or a moth.
