You're a fool to even think it.

Then a fool I must be.

He's already hurt you once.

He's the only man for me.

You know you cant trust him.

Not now, but I can start.

You know I put him out of our mind.

Yes but he never left our heart.

So you're telling me you'll give him a chance?

A chance to love me? Oh yes indeed.

I wont be there to pick up your pieces.

If that happens you'll be the last thing I need.

You're a fool to even consider.

Even fools have to dream.

Well I guess we're in this together.

We make an awesome team.

Yeah a fool and a dreamer...what a pair.

You give me the chance to fly.

Like I have a choice when you spread your wings.

Well you always let me try.

Go on, go ahead and love him.

You know I do all the time.

But I'm with you now and I'll stay near.

I'll be careful for your peace of mind.

Paula---I did love this internal dialogue.
Was like a script from my migraines...lol.

Nice format, and great construct.  Loved it.

Love your poem "darlin"
For you

My heart says yesiree
My mind says maybe
I'm torn apart between heart and mind
Suddenly a louder voice of another kind

It's my lower torso saying, "mind is blind"
"Look at her that gorgeous thing of the prettiest kind"
"She keeps me alert"
"So I make mouth flirt"

"And force eyes to watch"
Upon this site feet play hopscotch
A dance I make them do so mind wont let them run
And if you don't mind this could be fun

Well mind is afraid and says "only if"
So lower torso threatens and says, "I'm going stiff"
Not in public, mind screams out "please"
Well heart stepped in and says, "I won't let you tease"

Heart really wants her that's very clear
And mind's holding back because of the fear
Then mouth starts to talk and asks for a date
Because lower torso is convincing so mouth took the bait

Greeneyes...unfortunately I usually follow my simple heart...lol...gets me in bunches of trouble.

Serenity...OMG...yes thats it a migraine conversation LOL...thanks

JM...hehehe sweetie...theres these guys in white coats following me around...I dunno what they want...but they keep inching closer and closer....

Insect...we gotta quit meeting like this...

Bring your body ever closer
Let my heart convince your mind
And if that doesnt work
Maybe my lips can try and find
That spot that makes your mind open
Letting your heart just slip on through
And we can be together
Becoming one where there once was two

I love your poetic replies. Why dont you email me?

Coco...oh yeah pure torture when one is determined not to compromise...thanks

Paula my mind and heart have these same conversations.  I believe a friendship that is based on mutual respect, trust and admiration can build a solid foundation for the beauty of Love to flourish and grow.  James

Your internal dialogue makes me think I may have some serious problems!
Mine never seem to get along that well!
A great poem, Paula.  You really did capture the sensation well.  Inner turmoil sucks, but it does have its funny side too!

Paula, I have the thought that we have indulged in some similar disasters in the recent past. It is so ridiculously true, that you can tell yourself the right thing all dam day and then suddenly your heart takes over, and you have lost the control (just temorarily)
You write about it very effectively.

You wrote so well what's going on in my life right now; I must be projecting too  laughs

I talk to myself ALL the time; that way I usually win the argument   So far no one's caught on, I think... I hope

I truly enjoyed reading this; it's a keeper
