Between a laugh and a tear...

Quest

Fear thee not fair maiden
Held captive in yonder tower
For this night you will know
The sweet taste of freedoms power

One brave knight puts aside his armour
And lays open his heart for her to view
For he knows that when tomorrow dawns
they shall start their life anew

Her eyes they shine as beacon bright
And draw him to her hearts pure light
He shall scale those lofty heights
Then with his love they shall take flight

There's lightning flash and thunderous roar
As the rain beats down upon his chest
Neither man nor God could stop him this night
No force could keep him from his quest

As fly on wall he makes his way
Across that wet, moss covered wall
Arms length now he reaches out
But the stone it crumbles then he falls

And as she looked upon that desperate sight
He saw her face as he grasped only air
Last thought of her as he fell into the night
Of tears in her eyes, filed with despair

That love gone now, thought he'd never see
His life snuffed out by the rocks below
But their love it was meant to be
His spirit soars free toward her glow

And as she now cast herself from that tower
Two like Spirits were joined together
Now with the angels above they rest
Together once more, now and forever!

Eagle* Let me start by saying....WOW...this
blew me away!!  You've woven devotion, love,
dreams, pain, joy, elation, freedom...and
Forever, all into this spectacular poem..I
loved it Eagle..this is one of my
favorites.  All of your "knight" poems are
amazing...but this one...this one is beyond
that..beautiful work my dear friend~
