I never knew that passion was
A doorway meant for me.
You opened up my eyes to show me
All there was to see.
So here I am - a brand new man
With just one thing to say.
Now that you made me what I am
How can you walk away?

We danced together in the rain,
Laughing at the storm.
You kissed my cheek to show me there
Was no cause for alarm.
You made my life a brand new game
And taught me how to play
So, now that you made me what I am
How can you walk away?

Now here I am, bewildered by
The questions I don't know.
I'm revved up with a tank of gas
But got nowhere to go.
Please tell the man that you created
How to live this way.
Now that you made me what I am
How can you walk away?

This is so poignant; there's the question of the hour......how can you walk away?

Balladeer you seem so sad. A man who writes as sweet as you should be able to find a woman who will appreciate him for who he is.

You gave her all you have
you touched her with delight
you stoked the fires there within
what is wrong with this night?
where is the loving song
where is the fire within?
Oh my most tender heart
where did the story begin?

your breaking my heart tonite sweets ...
this is two sad ones in a row ...

she was a fool to walk away
a man man like you deserves a woman that'll stay.
maybe she thought you were too sweet for her
and these other thoughts do occur ...
perhaps she knew you were just too much
that she couldnt handle your gentle touch
maybe she knew you were just too special and rare
you were more man than she would dare
I guess we shouldnt judge her till we've walked in her shoes...
I bet shes singing her share of the blues
it cant be easy knowing she lost her chance with the BEST ...
now she will have to settle for all the rest.

TRUST ME WHEN I SAY.....
her loss sweet cheeks....HER LOSS ...

Balladeer, Your poem touched on some very vivid realities of life that even now I am still learning.  Your sadness is felt in the flowing of words from your heart.  Thank you kind sir this night for sharing what is truly a very touching piece.

I can only hope it's not applicable to your own personal Balladeer...other than that it sure is a good summation of what happens to many, men or women. Beautiful rhyme scheme and flow very enjoyable read....chin up write on!!

Sigh ... I haven't had much of a chance to read the last while, but I simply cannot resist the charm that draws me in through your name on a post. If this be true to life Michael, she is a sorry woman indeed. Beautifully written, with such tender and sorrowful thoughts. Hugs to you for this lovely verse ...

Best wishes,
/Kit

'Deer,
how could she leave, did she not know
your heart is the best,alone or on show
did she not see the love that began
did not want the sensitive man
was she blind, did friendship call
her, away from you did she lose all
I understand it brings you pain
If she could, she would always remain
but maybe she can't and there's no blame
just keep writing on to help bear the strain

No-one could walk away from bliss
if ecstasy took hold.
Nobody could just up and leave
and be so very cold.
If there were dreams to hold so true,
if futures were in sight,
there is no person on this earth,
who'd walk away from light.
I do not see how anyone
could walk away from you -
if you were standing, opened arms,
within that someone's view.
It's truly inconceivable
that anyone could leave --
even satellites stay put
when waiting to receive.
How could this happen, Poet 'deer?
How could one walk away?
Perhaps the disappearing comes
within a shadow play.
It's hard to see when shadows dance
upon the walls, unclear -
and how can someone walk away
from far instead of near?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*wink* - this was one touching piece, Michael. "Passion" looks good on you!- i hope this isn't a "true" story... (i always thought that was sort of a funny saying -"true story" - almost sounds like an oxymoron, huh?) anyway... i'd say thanks for the inspiration but i came up with sort of a  sad repartee, so i'll just send my ((((hugs))) your way and maybe if she doesn't come back, you and i can meet somewhere and go out to eat chicken wings or maybe peel-n-eat jumbo shrimp or something! *grin...(geez, another oxymoron "jumbo shrimp")
- all you can ever really ask out of life is a sincere apology and some decent poetry -
