It's all over;
The confusion has ended.
All that can be heard
Is the sound of quiet rain
After the downpour;
The distant thunder
Finding its way back
To the horizon.
Trees blowing in the breeze,
Calming down from the catastrophe.
Nature will find its way
Back home;
It will recover.
I, too, will find my way.
Silent music plays as,
In the distance,
Someone cries himself to sleep;
Someone rejoices over his triumph.
Is that harmony?
Is there peace with the world?
Can a heart still feel?
Is there such a sentiment
As sympathy?
Compassion seems to be
A thing of the past;
Inspiration cannot possibly exist
In a world such as this.
In one place,
Someone crafts the words
In his mind;
In another,
Someone ignores the muse.
I'm wondering
If it's all gone cold;
If the fire has been put out
By selfishness and greed;
By the want
Of material wealth and pleasures.
The measure of a man
Is not what one has
Or what one can do;
The size of his heart
Is the standard by which
Respectability is determined.
The rain is receding;
The breeze is slowing down;
All is settling back
Into its place of belonging.

Much to ponder in the write.

Thanks, Marge.  This is a little different kind of writing for me, but it's just what I was feeling one day.  I'm glad I could make you ponder!!

The size of his heart
Is the standard by which

The wonderful thing about a heart is when it is feeling TOO much pain it will eventually go numb but only temorarily, as it will finally wake up again and find the beauty of life and love once more and a heart such as yours will always have that little extra strength of purity in it as I know it to be one of sincerity.  Hugs to you my friend of the blue pages and the diamond as well.  (season tickets to the Cardinals should help, I would think. )
