If you could spread the innocence of every child on earth,
If you could spill your freezer chest in world's of hungry worth,
If you could will your heart into a hopeless empty life,
Would you face a certain death to save your brother's life?

Whatever undertaking your soul, your heart, can prove,
There's nothing there can compare to love your blood can brew.
Even if you drained your life into the goodwill well,
Waiting for the angels would you save your brother's health?

If you could sail the skies with spirits that are free
and conquer evil forces that stir the warlord's greed.
If you could show true pictures to those destroying earth
would you give up all of these to save your brother's worth?

these are wonderful questions, Ethome...I wonder how many of us would answer them...truthfully?

Well done.

ethome ~ I have been in this situation, twice... and I can tell you that yes, I'd have given anything to have been able to help them and still have them here.  Wonderful thought provoking piece.  Bonnie

Thought provoking. Honestly, I don't know, but I imagine I would.  (I'm an only child)  I do know that I would do anything including all that you have mentioned for my children though...  Does this count?  Bob <><

Interesting question Ethone, and I don't have the answer...I hope I never have to face the choice that your poem talks of.

PS--Sure glad to see you posting again...and this one is written so well!

I love the way your poetic mind works
and your heart aint half bad either...
love the cadence and flow of this..
and of course the sentiments ...
as you say --questions of life...
excellent poetry.

My sister (only sibling) died at 20 when I was 8 - But I can say honestly I've thought about this with other loved ones since I grew up - and the answer is 'yes'. I think I wrote once about loving enough to give up a kidney (a much easier 'yes')
I agree with JM too - great write~S~

Thank you lighthousebob and yes it would apply to your children even more. Family is the depth of the seat of emotion and the only true security on the face of this earth...sadly it is in great danger of failing in the not too distant future unless everyone pulls together to resurrect the family unit. If not.. our future kin are going to come out of a test tube I'm afraid.

Thanks Martie for your kind words as always they are a source of encouragement to me.

Janet it's so good to hear from you after all this time and thank you for the fine compliments.I'm feeling a little better these days and it's a joy to be here posting again.
I was so glad to see that you are still in the thick of things at passions. Thanks once more...ethome

These questions have me pondering and will keep me thinking for a long while. Much food for thought Ethome. Great poem my friend.
