Prismed color of liquid sheen
Found in each rainbow I've seen
They cascade to earth in an arc
Only seen with sun - not in the dark

Scientists tell us the arc's a part
We could try to chase, a futile race
To find the base, a pot of gold
Or love unending so we're told

Yet a trick of light refracted so
We'd see a full circle - all the glow
Circle infinitely then to trace
If we could but view them from space

So much for scientists - no romance
No red shoes, these folks don't dance
And they don't know the blues of rain
That brings the rainbows - we cry in vain

No rainbows without rain there are
No falling stars without the night
Yet waterfalls make rainbows too
The rainbow that I saw with you

I still remember stars fell that night,
That I'd lose you - some said an omen,
That you'd be gone - you'd go roamin'
Don't know omens but they were right

So I'll search that rainbow - I would climb it
Make that climb what e're the climate
That arc I'd scale ten thousand times three
If it could bring you back to me

Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things
which matter least.

This is very poignant, makes me think of reaching for a star, and it's just not within reach.

Rainbows from a different point of view
A very enjoyable read with a great ending

Im waiting at the the rainbow’s end
For him to see the light
A simple recognition would
End a lover’s plight

He thinks that I require him
To scale the prism arc
And so he is not willing
On this journey to embark

But rainbow’s an illusion
To simply come and go
And so I sit and wait for him
In opalescent glow

In hopes that he will recognize
The changes that have come
The fantasies still unfullfilled
The promises undone

I’m still the person deep inside
He loved so long ago
The only difference is my face
In irridescent glow

For I have found my heart at peace
And joy from strife within
How easy it would be for him
To sit and be my friend

Please come, my love, and join me now
Here at the rainbow’s end

You inspire others to write

Lzi

to bounce from scientists to romance shows a wide expanse of imagination...well done, Sir!

Wilfred~

The raining of memories
set aglow with love's light
show us that remembering
still sets hearts a'flight

A treasure of memories
in our hearts we hold
I'm sure that is
our pot o' gold

*Wonderful write, my friend.

oh I LOVE this poem...
the imagery ..the rhyme ...
the premise of it all...
the longing in the emotions
this is excellent writing Wil ...
like Ethome said ...emotions dressed in poetic reasoning...
classic poetry at its best...
romantic and bittersweet...perfect

Sir Poet Bill* I slipped on my Ruby slippers
to read this poetic gem...I confess I'm
humming the song...my favorite movie of all
time...."off where dreams really do come
true"...and *sigh* this is just as beautiful
as the song and shows the colors of love and
dreams so very very beautifully~

At rainbows end you will find
The love you seek, there in your mind
Its not as elusive as it seems
As long as you dare to dream
So come and take a rainbows chance
Dare to dream, dare to dance
