The Softer Side Of Me

“I” among the thorns and thistles of this great land
seeing with yearning eyes all around
the harshness that is my domain, I desire a softer reality.

This reality I speak of is the feminine side of my essence, I want to be truly loved.
I have given of myself for so long with out feeling
wanted as a women in love.

Sometimes I ponder on this, am I asking for a pleasure that just exist in my mind
made up because I do not feel loved or is there really a realm that exist?

Do we as humans ever reach that plain of happiness that will keep us knowing we
lived true loves powerful reality’s. Oh in the past I guess I would have to admit
for a short while I was loved, but it died so very fast.

I maintained my affection towards the other in every way and much, much more,
trying to get to that place that made my soul complete but with no results. Does this mean
that it just wasn’t meant to be or does love take on  another shape, reality, or course?
One my soul does not recognize or feel that power love radiates.

I am not speaking of the obligations of life; I know trials and challenges come to all
weather you want to reside alone or with another.

I am asking for that look saying you make my everyday, the firm embrace
telling me, he will never let me fall. The making of love that makes you cry in pure delight,
these things can they be held for more than the newness of a relationship?

I want to walk lovers lane honored paths, my head buried in your chest knowing you
would never walk these steps with another. I want
to be able to  say silly things
and not be belittled, I need to know beyond a shadow of doubt that when life’s challenges
hit you will stand firm and ready beside me.

I could go on about all of the romantic dreams I dream, but I just want to be loved
back and this possibility just seems to elude me.
I don’t know if it is me or
am I asking for something that just doesn’t exist.

The softer side waits for that day it can express its self
in full and truly feel love in return.

~~~ Cerenity ~~~
You have perfectly penned the very same questions that I have asked myself so many times. Is there really love as I believe it should be, or is that perception just my fantasy?  I haven't found the answer, but I appreciated every thought of your poem!!
I think it is there, Cerenity....why it makes  some of us wait longer for it, I am not  so sure...but it IS worth the wait!
I agree with all the above Cerenity, but would like to note that inspite of the so called "machoism" of men, many aspire for the same, because we all have a "softer" side.
Love touches us all and as you so succiently put it "The softer side waits for that day it can express its self in full and truly feel love in return."
Applause for your piece...it definetly filled a niche.
I too, must agree with all of the above. . . especially with my friend jwesley who said it best about the "male" of the species. . .
This is an amazing poem from you. . . I feel that it says a lot about what's in all our hearts. . . I pray that you find it one day my friend. . .
I think love is differnt in everone's perspective and it should be considered as a gift when it happens.
This is very soulful.
A wonderfully beautiful reading.
Look within the heart of a poet, and you will see a reflection of their soul.
