Time just slips away
and the days they start to flow.
When I was young and strong I could only see light,
against the years I had everywhere to go.
And the rivers I would cross
and the sunsets I'd go through,
running like a free horse out of the fold
when there was nothing to do but dream about the new.

In the moonlight under the big Oak tree
I drew my first love up close to me.
I remember how she set my soul free,
Oh what a friend wish I could do it again.

The years went by so fast
I took that girl and made us a home,
surrounded by the youth we needed to live
we watched the time pass til we made it our own.
Then we lost our way
and now we're on our own.
I was running from her she was running from me
never thought about the pain that was starting to grow.

We stayed past the limit wasting our time,
crushing all the values that we brought in.
We lost in the end we were way out of line
and there's no going back there again.

The Autumn days have finally come.
There's shelter in the memories now.
Hindsight's visions are on the run,
now I got time to look around.

Oh...time and time again,
I still think of you my friend
We had our good times and I miss you sometimes
but I got time on my side again.

Reflecting is often so much easier when set to music...this must be a song, or "could" be, at least. A wise look back and calm look ahead.

E. it's true, there is no going back again, unless to the memories. I realized  yesterday that I lived in a fantasy world, thinking I had the perfect life, when in reality, there is no such thing. So much for the blinders of love.

Ethome--You write such a sad song, but also one of wisdom...what a journey life can be, huh...and you write a poem from the heart, with the beat of a song...I hope you sing it!
