Will someone call the cops right now?
There's been a real crime!
Last night while I was fast asleep
Somebody stole my rhyme!

I had it under lock and key.
I thought it was secure.
I had it tucked deep in my heart
To be extremely sure.

But someone found their way inside
And took my rhyme away.
Now all that's left is emptiness
And words I cannot say.

Oh, wait! I know who did it!
Absolutely! I am sure!
It was that girl I fell in love with..
I know it was her!

She had the only combination
Had the only key.
I can't believe she'd take my rhymes
Then run away from me.

But she is gone and so are they
It's not coincidence.
They left the day she went away
And I ain't seen them since!

If someone sees her, let her know
I have a silent pen
And, till  the day she's back to stay,
I'll never rhyme again.

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect; it just means you've decided
to see beyond the imperfections.

It would appear
sir that your rhyme
is out about
and doing fine

the malady
of your ballad sir
may be that other part

not your meter
or your pen
so
may God bless your heart!

your rhyme is just fine
its been here all the time
your poetry does define
she will never call it "mine"
your cadence is sublime
your meter is divine
she needs to walk the line
she needs to beg and whine
let this poem be her sign
leaving you was her crime
your a poet in your prime
like Spam your words are sweet as wine.

Um....Mike? Um....I took it, but I promise I'll give it all back after I'm through abusing it. (Whoze chore daddy?!) Ah...feel better now....that iambic septameter and octameter was getting a little unruly.

*manly HUGS* It'll all come back in due time, Sir Balladeer. But until then, you have plenty of fodder for angst poetry.

Dear Deer,
Your rhyme is here,
Find it once again,
At your aid,
Once a handsome ransom is paid.

Useless then it will return,
For from your elixir,
I have not yet learned.

Of its secrets I do but beg,
Before serving another cup,
Out of my bad rhyming keg.

*note* THIS POEM WILL SELF DESTRUCT!

Walt...afraid you're right. I can't stop rhyming...day and night

Serenity....sometimes I live to rhyme and sometimes I rhyme to live. With you as a bodyguard I know I would be safe. Keep me covered, ok?

Rose....well, you're half right!

Rebel...you must be a carpenter because you always have an uncanny knack for hitting the nail right on the head..may your heart also be blessed, good poet.

Janet MArie...they can steal our hearts but not our poetry....what a FANTASTIC line!!!!! You're awesome, spam-sharer

inot2B....you're right!...and they might not be able to tell the difference!

Sunshine...I'll ask them...but I think he's on the lam

Ron....your words are very kind and appreciated...

Alicat...ain't it the truth! Whatever happens to a poet just gives them more to write about! Abuse away, fanatical feline fellow!

Temptress...ROFL!! Self-destructing rhyme or not, it's always a pleasure to see you!

Sy....I HATE it when that happens! Next time try 912..thanks for enjoying....

Corrine...You are SMART!!! It DOES rhyme and I think SHE IS inside it, too!  Girl, you're good!

Hello there, look what I've just found,
your key, that lie here on the ground,
there's no need to call the cops my dear,
you may lost it yourself right here,
I'm telling that your rhymes are fine,
because there was after all no crime.

.......mmm..don't look at me that way,
it wasn't me that took it away,
cause I aint no thief of rhymes,
I'll only peek between the lines.

I'd call the cops for you too, Deer, but that would be a crime, making false reports, you know, cause your poems do so rhyme!!!

i think that if you think about it,
you'll find out it's true....
that nobody can ever steal
your heart or parts of you!
you have yourself wrapped up inside --
you own your soul, you know --
and nothing can be stolen
unless you have let it go.
sometimes there are some things that are
behind the doors with locks,
and if you let them out, you'll find,
you've op'ed pandora's box--
but there's no criminals, you know,
when kitty cats get free.
no, freedom is a gift which
sometimes opens eyes to see --

my point is this, 'deer Poetman,
we must see through the bluffs,
and call the cops! yes, if you must,
but make sure to bring cuffs!! *wink*

meeeeeeeooooowwwwta here!!!
purrrrrrfectly wonderful verse!

I shuddered at the thought of this,
Please Deer, don't lose your rhyme,
The thought of you bereft of words,
Sent shivers down my spine!

Wonderful poem Michael ... I do love how your mind works! Now please promise that since several friends above have helped you find your rhymes again, that you'll place them in a safety deposit box, and hire Serenity to help keep you and them, safe. The world would be a sad place indeed without the Balladeer we know and love!

Best wishes,
/Kit

and lots of sympathy won
was that you plan? well fine elan
to bring that dastardly girl undone
the rhymes did not roam so call them home
dragging those women hearts behind them

(Knock! Knock!)…(door opens)
Hello this is the Love Police!
Is this the resident of Balladeer?
We have a report that a rhyme is missing?
Would this be a love rhyme?
Well I checked your file prior to my arrival and
it says that you don't have any love insurance (No Piece of the Rock)
/pip/Forum33/HTML/000057.html
You know we just can't let you run wild and free in that flowered shirt,
bell-bottom pants and clogs without insurance!! Now that's a crime!!
You probably have a BIG black book loaded with female poets that
are ready to rhyme with you at any given moment.
And I bet there's a bunch of Ballafawn's running around everywhere?
Because of your Passion in Poetry!!
You know I should write you up right now!!
But since I'm having a good day I think I'll tear this ticket up!!
And I'm gonna file this report as misplaced or lost. NO! NO! I think
from what I have read this should be placed in the Broken Hearts file.

                                   Broken Hearts Report

DATE…On the..05th.. day of the..11th..month in the year..2000 AD

PERSON/PERSONS…Moderator Balladeer of the
                                      Passion in Poetry Forums

DISCRIPTION/ CLAIM…Moderator Balladeer claims that a love
with no apparent name has got up and
left in the middle of the night with his
rhyme. He also claims he had it locked
in his heart and he had the only key.

INSPECTORS NOTES…I must say that on investigating Balladeers
heart it does look as if their was a break and
entry taken place in the late hours of the
evening of 11/05/2000 and that every time
he is asked about his love it bleeds (his heart)
and it is empty of rhyme. Upon a visual
inspection of his heart I noticed the Balladeer
                                          singing a tune that goes…………………….
                                           "IF I ONLY HAD A HEART"…………….
And he kept asking me if I seen the Wizard
Well I told him to stay away from the Poppy
fields and that he should stay at home because
there's no place like home, then he clicked his
heels and started to dance around some funny
looking ribbed balloons he had in his wallet.

CONCLUSION…This case can only be filed under Broken Hearts because
the Balladeer did give access into his heart for his love and
that she may return with his rhyme and mend but for now
the Balladeer will wait for her and her love (sob!) and the
only way I think we can help is to sing along with him…
                              1 and a 2 and a 1 2 3 4….."IF I ONLY HAD A HEART"..

They should only be used by professionals...
