poets of past mirth ...

writing with spirits free
our poets of past mirth
their thinking minds to see
the glorious splendid world
made heaven and earth to be

to walk the countryside
and ponder a shining fancy
every thoughtful whim scribed
in a book of dream's dancing
with a bard's waltzing bride

their voices all but faded
on death's dusty shelves
yet their songs remain untainted
in my mind's choral chant
of homage left unjaded

and if to be so taunted
by dead men's written verse
i'll tarry 'til i'm haunted
and toil 'til it hurts
to have my name so flaunted

as our poets of past mirth

My calling before me, let quill be my offering;
For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive.

That's the attitude! Keep it up and someday you will be flaunted like them.

only one word comes to mind... brilliance... and such brilliance should be revered for  a long time to come.

"an afixiation a fix on anything the line of life the limb of a tree
the hands of he and the promise that s/he is blessed among women".
Patti Smith
