He Said Goodbye

It was the final word

the ultimate opposite of hello
how are you
good morning
nice to see you

it was the final goodbye

no coming around
or coming back
nor even a return
to be thought of

it was the final goodbye

and like the spirit of the season
like soft owl wings on the wind
like the spirit passing from the soul
and the final knock on the door

it was the final goodbye

all he left behind was the whisper of

falling leaves
October’s final moon
candy kisses
and cider sweet murmurings

it was the final goodbye.

Karilea
If I whisper, will you listen?...KRJ

I have given one of those final goodbye's and it is not something I take litely...took many years of emotional abuse, frustration, longing, and pain and anger before I knew the final goodbye had already been given...James

Kari, yes one of the hardest things is to say goodbye, knowing there won't be anymore hello or hi. You've written this so beautifully, showing just exactly how it is.
Lovely Kari, this is so telling. Absolutely excellant.
Take care

Goodbye is always harded thing to say.
He says goodbye
as he leaves me behind,
waving out to me
as he is on the door,
He waves goodbye to me
as he leaves,
He finally said goodbye
and made me cry,
goodbye,
How did you like it?I love your poem.

Wonderful writing, you've captured the feeling perfectly; it's never easy hearing a final goodbye or giving one either.  Hugs, Pepper

"Goodby...
said the wind to the tree
as it rustled it's leaves,
Goodby...
said the snow to the sun
as it watered the ground,
Goodbye...
so long...
adieu...
but that doesn't mean
I've stopped loving you... wjb."

Wonderful poem - tender thoughts, my friend.
It's how we accept goodbyes that are most important in the end. Touched by this...

Karilea~

'the final goodbye'
'the ultimate opposite of hello'

What a comparison ....
I'd venture to say that sums it up accurately.

Now *smile*, lady !

You have penned a heartfelt beauty of sadness in this one of yours.  Hope all is well.  Good-byes are never easy though sometimes they are very neccesary.

Sunshine  I like that..."The ultimate opposite of hello,"...you have really developed your poetic craft and taken it to greater heights sort of like "soft owl wings on the wind" and the "spirit is passing from your soul" right on to the page...wonderful work just simply very very good writing!!

Jenn, it IS heartfelt, thank you for feeling it too...

Amy, the kindest words...thank you...

Victoria, so glad you enjoyed...

I was so intent on reading this I didn't realise that Snoops had put his paw on my arm and had rested his head on it so I nearly gave him a black eye when I started to type this reply...ROFL

Damn, Karilea, this is too much. I know that I say this a lot lately, but this is so exactly what happened to me, in October, too! I always love your poems, this one reached out and grabbed me by the throat..
Hope you are not having a sad month, also.
