It was the bottom of nine
Two men were out.
The crowd was a mix
Of yell, scream and shout.
The bases were loaded
The winning run was at third.
When I stepped into the box
Not heard was a word.
I inched up to the plate
With my old trusty bat.
Her name was Louise
And she’s ready to swat.
The pitcher was staring
A few signs he did shake.
Then with a windmill of motion
Threw the ball towards the plate.
I stood there a grinnin’
As the ump yelled out “STRIKE!”
Just wasn’t my pitch
It just wasn’t right.
I readied myself
Steady and true
As the ball whizzed on by
The ump belched out “STRIKE TWO!”
The crowd was a chorus
Of boo’s and “aw come on.”
I stepped out of the box
And spit out my gum.
I glanced at my team mates
All on the edge of the bench.
My manager had a handful of hair
From his head which was wrenched.
I settled into my stance
My feet planted astride
I anxiously waited
For the ball to arrive.
It moved like a rocket
And  as some later said
There was a crack just like thunder
When I stuck out my head.

The crowd went amuck
As walked in the last run
I awoke the next day
To find out we had won.

Kitty, gald you were with it...cause I was out like alight

Alle'cram...thank you...I had to spit out the gum...i would've swallowed it!

Paula, if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck and looks like a duck...it's a duck...if it gets hit in the head with a baseball...well you're right...it's a man!

I must confess that baseball is the only sport I care to watch, and it's been some time!  I'm a Cubs fan, after all.
