Jesse has been heart broken, kinda down, and after talking with him, he inspired me to tell this tale, with him in mind, and a fact: his girl was a dead shot with a gun.

Quick to the draw,
I was caught in her sights,
Straight through the heart
She shot me tonight

Now I’m fallen
Can you lend me a hand?
I’m fallen
I can’t even stand
Now I’m heartless
In this heartless land.

When she had loved me,
It felt so damn right.
Now her spurs dig deep,
Like thorns in my side.

Now I’m fallen
Can you lend me a hand?
I’m fallen
I can’t even stand
Now I’m heartless
In this heartless land.

I was taken,
Slow to react,
She was quicker,
With the bullet in the back.

Now I’m fallen
Can you lend me a hand?
I’m fallen
I can’t even stand
Now I’m heartless
In this heartless land.

Yes, I’m heartless.
She took it again.

hey jes, you're never alone when amongst friends. Just keep looking ahead with your eye on the horizon and the sun will rise for you every day.  Ron

I've been there wishing that I'd gotten the first rounds (words) off...  but, it's not about you or her that's been shot for the worst... It's about reviving your Love (hearts) that lie there dead.  It's words that kill and words that revive...  Sounds like you need the good Doc. Holiday to pull a few lodged bullets out.  Bob <><

Howdy Ron! (and Jesse)

A clever tale of shoot'em up love. Jesse, don't give up, pardner, you'll be back in the saddle again real soon, to be sure. Hats off to you, Ron, fer a fine write!

Rainydays (couldn't resist...I love a good cowboy tail-er-TALE!!) (yeah, that's it, yeah)
