I saw an old friend this morning
yet it seemed we had nothing to say.
We stopped and said our pleasantries
then went on about our day.

We used to laugh, we used to smile,
and helped each other through our tears.
We've seemed to let those days slip by
through out the passing of years.
Ah- I remember those days
so well buried deep in my heart.
Yet I can't quite seem to recall
what it was that ever made us part.

Time often moves so quickly
and friends each go their seperate way.
Today I saw an old friend
and it was sad~
we had nothing left to say.

On the wings of words our spirits fly, and our souls are free.

Yes it is sad, but sometimes we move on with our lives, and not everyone follows. It is sad that so many paths cross but never end at the same destination.

Tossing words like wishful coins into the deep well of an open heart. R. fox

Yes, what happened I do not know, but now I don't see my old friends. In fact I don't even call and talk with them. I talk with complete strangers on a computer and find I'm closer to them than to the ones I use to call friend. Your poem made me think and it is mostly my fault cause I've closed my self off from most of the outside world. It is a sickness of the mind but at least I have those on my screen.

So sad when friends drift apart, but understand well what you mean, very lovely piece, nicely done.

Wonderful sentiments you've captured in this Gentle Spirit ... I too, know this feeling well. It's odd how someone who was so very much a part of our lives can drift into a stranger over time. Very nicely written, gave me pause for thought this evening.

Best wishes,
/Kit

As I am still fighting with this browser, I just wanted to take a quick moment to let you all know that I thank you for your kindness, and wish I had more time to answer you all.  Still just a tad frustrated, but thanks all.

Gentle Spirit,
this is a touching and sad subject, which you've tackled very well.

I could have written this. I felt the saddness and heartbreak. I have experienced this very thing as I'm sure have many others and it's truly painful. Sad but fantasic work. Tessa

Kethry, SS, thanks much to both of you.  It is always sad when there is nothing left to say.  Again, my thanks.
