today Lord,
I ask for faith
the strength to believe
to believe that you know my heart
better than I know it myself
to believe that you will care for me
no matter what I do or say
or when it seems that no one else does
to believe that the sun will shine
even on the darkest of days
and to believe that you will light my way
even on the blackest of nights

today Lord,
I ask for faith
the strength to believe
you say in your Word that if I have
but faith the size of a mustard seed
that I can move mountains
well Lord, I don't want to move mountains today
but I do want to believe that you're there,
that you hear me when I call,
that you're watching over me
and Lord, I know that you are
but there are some days Lord,
where it's hard to even have a
mustard seed of faith
so on those days Lord, help me to find
that seed

today Lord,
I ask for faith
the strength to believe
the strength that your will shall always
be done
and that sometimes Lord,
it won't always be what I want
give me the faith and strength to know
that you are infinite in your wisdom
and that you see things with eyes
that are not like mine
help me to see again like the blind man,
and help me to remember that faith
is the substance of things hoped for
and the evidence of things not seen

today Lord,
I ask for faith
the strength to believe
the power to serve
the heart to know
and the mind to understand

Amen.

Sven~
This is just a wonderfully written piece.

'the strength that your will shall always
be done
and that sometimes Lord,
it won't always be what I want'

Those lines alone, sum up the essence of
acceptance.

'and help me to remember that faith
is the substance of things hoped for
and the evidence of things not seen'

Brilliantly said.

Sven--

this is one of the most beautiful
and graceful prayer poems i have ever
had the pleasure of reading. the Lord
is there for us, he really is. and it
is obvious your faith in him...that faith
will get you through some of your darkest
hours. you have a beautiful and giving
heart. all the love you exude in life
will be given back to you ten fold.

take care my friend.

Sven indeed this is a gem, but I am like Cat on this one, sometimes it's hard to remember God is with you, and all things happen for a purpose, sometimes knowing he is there even, you still feel alone.....
Beautiful work you inspiring fellow you!!

As I have told you before, your eyes have not even seen a shadow of what He has for you and how He desires to use you. He is always there my friend. I too realize that sometimes it seems He's no where to be found but He's only a whisper of His name away. Sven, I can't tell you how this has touched me. I know we talk alot about spiritual things but to see you pour your heart out like this is very moving. This is a treasure and it is beautiful.

Beautiful work, Sven!  Sometimes, believing this is the only thing that gets me through!  You have captured the feeling wonderfully!!

Sven,

This was very beautiful my friend.  One of your best poems by far.  Perhaps you should share it with the Spiritual Journeys crowd.  I think they would love it.

Excellent work.

Hi Sven,
I have read a couple of (my) best reads today, in different catagories and here you give me another. Without doubt, this is the most "sincere" and beautiful poem/prayer that I have read from you or anyone. SINCERE.
Just so you will know, your sincere petition to God is all He asks. Ask openly so He is magnified through you and your request.
Sven, you have touched me and I know God is going to bless you with all that you ask. Keep the prayer in your heart and the joy will start to fill.   You are a sweetheart and you are loved.    Marcy

Wow. . . I'm just a little overwhelmed here everyone. . .

Thank you all for your replies. . . I've just been feeling a little down recently and I guess it all just came out in this poem. . . I hope that all of you will remember that in everything, Faith is what gets us through. . . we have to believe that it is possible. . . and if it's meant to be. . .then it will. . .but we have to believe first. . .

Thank you all again. . . you've really made my day. . .

Hi Sven,

Faith, the sure expectation of things hoped for, heavy and strange my world has been for a while now and this beauty will help me. I will admit that I forget to rely on God some times and try to do things on my own, but it usely only after I turn to Him that  things get better. Just simply beautiful friend thank you.

Love, Cerenity
