I was recently told I was a Diabetic, and the Holidays are a particularly
hard time for those who follow a strict diet. I am finding that it helps to
hold onto your sense of humor……….therefore this poem!    Enjoy!

Dracula doesn’t want me anymore!
I’ve left my windows open, and I’ve unlocked every door…
But he won’t show, and he won’t bite,
He won’t come around this Halloween night…
He knows what lies here waiting, and what for…
Count Dracula doesn’t want me anymore…

The Count will count me out this Halloween…
Though I’m the biggest fan Count Dracula has ever seen…
But this year he won’t bite my neck,
No blood from me---not one small speck…
He doesn’t like it thick, he likes it lean…
The Count will count me out this Halloween…

Dracula has a taste for salty fare…
So, when he bites into a neck, he wants no sugar there…
He likes his drink metallic brine,
The count enjoys his blood-red wine…
And different necks are waiting everywhere…
Count Dracula has a taste for salty fare…

But, Dracula doesn’t want me anymore!
He doesn’t have a sweet tooth…I’d taste like a candy store…
And though I’ll miss his sexy bite,
The thrills it gave were sheer delight…
But I accept the facts and know the score…
Why Dracula doesn’t want me anymore!

Yes....the attitude a person has can help or hinder in any given situation. I've just always found it easier to accept things, then look on the bright side. There's always a laugh in there somewhere, and laughter heals!  Thank you!!

My dear sweet sister, you know my feelings on this and you know I know your strength and trust me...Dracula may not be able to enjoy the bite anymore but I guarantee you he is wishing he had visited more often before.    Goes to show what you are proving day in and day out. Live today in full for the temptations may not be there tomorrow.  Excellent write my dear.  Hugs to you.

Great poem, and I love your sense of humor about the serious subject of diabetes.  It runs in my family, my brother has it, my dad had it, my grandfather had it, his sister died of it.  Just waiting for my turn.

A change of lifestyle forever is what my Bro is going through, so far so good!

Best of luck to you!

I know what the fear part is, but now that it is my reality, I no longer fear it. Seems like we worry the most about the things that are unknown to us. The best defense for you, without Diabetes, is to stay healthy through diet, and exercise. Read on it, and know the signs.  You're healthy, and you can prevent certain types on your own. Take care, ok?

Oh, so glad that you liked this.....it was great fun putting together for you all!!
Thank you!!

I don't know if the rest of my new sisters will see this reply, but here it is:
...Penelope...
That was sweet, and don't make Chaos too mad at me!! Great to meet you!!
...Patricia...
oooooh...be nice to Marsha now!! She is quite a talented writer, and I am proud to know her.  Nice to meet you, too!!
...Francessca...
Oh, I think your name is so lovely. It reminds me of a Dresden doll I had once! Thank you, sis, and you take care too!!
...Marcella...
You are so sweet....thank you, and I am glad to be a new member in your clan!! I always wanted to be part of a big family!!
...Melissa...
It's always hard being the baby, but I fear I am probably older than you!! (Glad you enjoyed this poem!!)
  And Marsha.....take care of yourself!!!

~~~ Corrine ~~~
It sounds like you know all there really is to know about Diabetes first-hand. But, that is good, my friend, as you will also have a better understanding of it than I did. I know now that it does not necessarily strike every member in the family, so there is a very good chance that your life will not be touched by it, if you eat right and exercise.
If you ever need to talk, email me, ok?
Thank you for being here today, my friend.
