"Laying Down Pen"

Shadows linger, as the darkness surrounds
The tears falling down my cheeks, the only sound
Wind blows through the chill of the night
And hard as I try, I can't see the light

My heart hangs heavy, as the tears do fall
Pain twists like a knife, as I surrender all
Your face and voice I miss so much
Mom...I miss your very single touch

It hit me full force on this very night
Can't help how I feel, try as I might
Feels like my heart will literally break into two
As memories play on in my mind, memories of me and you

So for now this poet lays down her pen
Gotta stop for a while, but I will pick it up again
And the night is slowly passing, but the pain is still here
As I wipe away once again, a descending tear

Guardian Angel of mine, where did you go
You left too soon, before I got to let you know
I love you so much, finest words in Webster couldn't express
When it came to a Mom and a friend, you were the best

Looking up at the moon hanging high in the sky
Waiting for the dark of the night to pass on by
My mind drifts to those pearly white gates
And thats when I realize everything, even your death was fate

I wish you peace, Amy. If you are going to leave, I hope you will be back soon. Your mom is still here with you, though I know through your poetry how much you miss her.

Take care,
Elizabeth

Amy,
lovely write. I hope you're not really laying down your pen. I would miss your profound words of wisdom.

this is beautiful and heart wrenching Amy, I am sure your mum is right there beside you dear.
Don't lay down your pen for too long, Passions poets would miss your heart.

<Amy...
sweetie...everything in life cycles ..
and things that we think we have defined
and filed in a quiet place ..
well, sometimes they quietly come back up on us...
and its perfectly normal.. and your allowed.
Somethings never leave us,
some losses will always take a part of us with them ..
but it is the things left behind
that we should hold close and draw strength from ...
when these dark nights roll in..
some things hurt so much that it does indeed take our words from us...
but when you were in this lost moment..
what did you do ...
you picked up your pen and the two of you wrote a beautiful heart touching poem together ...
one of your best to date as matter of fact
you are a poet baby....whether or not you write for awhile ...
poetry is always inside you...
as is she .. and she will inspire you time and time again ...
Find your strength in the traces she left behind ...
like the beautiful young woman whose name is at the top of this page for one ...
love you sweetie...
one day at a time...

~Traces Left Behind~

What's left of me ... inside of you ... did I leave anything behind,
am I a whisper in your heart ... a ghost of sweet regret in your mind.
Did I leave a trace of contentment ... did I mend the hole in your heart,
am I a secret that you keep ... a kind memory that love imparts.

When you think of me ... does it bring a gentle smile to your face,
do you cherish the love we shared ... is it held in a special place.
Did I leave a lasting impression ... any footprints on your soul,
did my love bring you peace ... did I complete and make you whole.

When you cry late at night ... am I there in your tears reflection,
did my love inspire you ... did I give your life direction.
Will I always be inside of you ... a soft shadow, a treasured memory,
will you look back on this love ... will this time be an echo of destiny.

Did my love make you strong ... did it help you to see your own light,
did my touch make you warm ... did my embrace comfort you in the night.
Can you now see the beauty in you ... can you love yourself thru my eyes,
can you accept fate's reasons ... walk the path to where love's future lies.

All of these things you have left in me ... a thousand kisses on my heart,
I hold on to the memories ... and cherish this love ... now that we're apart.

Elizabeth--
thank you for your heartfelt reply. i
am not really going to leave passions.
i am just laying down the pen for a bit.
sometimes it hurts too much to write, if
that makes sense...even though it is still
the most wonderful way i've found to
release my feelings. take care.

Ron--
what a sweet reply! yes i do miss
her very much. thank you for saying
she's smiling down on me. that makes me
take care.

Lynne--
well that is quite a compliment. my
words are profound? wow. coming from
you lady, that's a high compliment. i
humbly thank you. take care.

Maree--
i like to think she is with me. don't
worry i won't lay the pen down for too
long...just long enough to heal. thank
you for your kind words. take care.

Jan--
well what do i say to you? you always
leave me speechless, in a good way. to
say thank you for your kind words and
beautiful touching thoughts seems very
inadequate. my mother if she was alive
would find you and give you a huge hug!
thank you for always supporting and
believing in me. you have NO idea how much
it means to me. i love ya! take care

Kit--
your replies are always so lovely. you
really know how to make a person smile!
the thought that she is with me in heart
and soul comforts me, thank you. take care.

Sven--
how ya do it?? with just a few words you
always make me happy and smile. i got a
real big smile right now. the highest
honor anyone could ever say to me is that
they see my Mom through me. Thank you!

Charisma--
thank you for your sweet reply. don't
worry i'm not really leaving...just
taking a break. i really enjoy your poetry
too! take care.

Kris--
thank you for your wonderful comment.
also thank you for the special email you
sent me. please check yours, you have
something waiting for you there as well.
take care hon.

Love ya all,
~Amy~
