‘”I’d like to taste,” he said, “the inside of your mouth.
God, how I’d like to be a goblin-sized Gulliver
and explore that cave.”’
Vladimir Nabokov, from “Ada.”

The brave explorer packed his bag and said,
“I’d rather die in battle than from dullness,
I’d rather feel the waves than in this calmness,
Pretend to live and know that I am dead.”

His mother fainted, his father glowed with pride.
He said, “Dear son, for once, you’ve made me proud.
Good luck to you and don’t come home without
That which you seek, but rather, stay and fight!”

The flags were raised, his ship had stood intent.
It left the port, unknowing where to sail,
And it was tossed around by the gale,
The captain spun the rudder with content.

The raging winds would rip right through the flag,
The deck would screech aloud with displeasure,
He told himself, “ahead, ahead!... the treasure
Awaits me there,-- there is no turning back!”

The whirlpools spun much closer than before.
The rats jumped overboard, his ship was doomed,
And here and there, the strikes of lightening loomed,
Unconscious, he was washed onto some shore.

And half-awake, he heard the raging storm.
He found himself inside some dusky cave,
Somehow, at last, he felt that he was safe,
He felt divine, untouchable and warm.

He stood in awe as lengthy years passed by.
In happiness, he recollected those sensations
At last he sighed, and said with admiration,
“At last I’ve lived! Now, I shall never die!”

Thus, he encountered his first eternal bliss,
And nothing ever could outmatch this feeling,
This was a magical, a wonderful beginning,--
No later kisses could outmatch this kiss.

This is "Masterful:

"When red-haired girls scamper like roses
over the rain-green grass,
and the sun drips honey.""
