She said "Mommy, when I go away today
will you be there when I get home?"
I said "Yes honey, I will be here
when you get home."
She said "Mommy I might be gone till dark
will you let the light on for me?"
I said "Yes honey, I will leave the light
on for you to come home."
She said "Mommy, some day
I might leave for a long, long time
will I still be able to come home?"
I said, "Baby, you will always
be able to come home."
She said "Mommy, I love you."
I said "My angel I will always love you."

On the wings of words our spirits fly, and our souls are free.

Thank you for such a beautiful poem. I do remember when my little boys would never leave home without a hug and saying "I Love You Mommy"

Martie, Inot, Butterfly, thank you all so much.  Children can give us so much love that it almost hurts sometimes.
Again, my sincere thanks.

GentleSpirit~
And we build their faith in us
on small staircases that they can easily climb
one small step at a time.

This is a lovely write.

Marge, Nate, Rosebud, D, and Ron......whew......thanks to you all.  I think sometimes we can take for
granted the little things that our children say to us, and as after thoughts we sit back and say........
"Man, there is nothing like the love of a child."  Thanks all.

Gentle Spirit-
   this is so precious.
simple...yet it says so very much.
nothing is sweeter than the love
and trust between a parent and
   a child...beautifully done.

   hugs,
