A lifetime
Has danced across the stage
Since you have been gone;
An array of stunning brides
And handsome grooms;
Proud hard working parents;
A systems tech, a secretary;
A teacher, some artists;
A chef, an accountant;
A singer and songwriter;
Small ones now grown
Taking their place
Center stage
In the continuing saga
Begun not so long ago;
Each generation crowned with
Untarnished brilliant jewels
of the past
Spectacular to behold;
Robed in garments stitched
With golden threads of love
That will never fray or tatter;
In each newborn’s wide-eyed innocence,
In each first accomplishment,
With each long-awaited dream realized,
Another chapter is written in your honor
Penned to your memory;
And somehow, somewhere,
I think you are enjoying the show

And so

Because of you

The show must go on.

(For Mom and Dad, In Loving Memory)

Denise--a very touching poem and beautiful tribute to your parents...I like to think that those that pass on know what happens to those they leave behind. Hugs!

Gotta tell you, this one really got to me.  What a lovely tribute to the two most important people in our lives.  Lends to the belief that it all starts at home.

Free verse works well with you too, Denise, even though it is not your usual style. Beautiful and touching work. I'm sure your mom and dad love it.
