The Shadowed Path
by
Garfield Green

Taking a new course through the forest...
Getting lost beyond my means...
Looking for a way out of this darkness...
Trying to find a way out it would seem...

A soft serene voice beckons...
With a mysterious, obscure, penetrating sound...
And I walk deeper into the swaying grove of trees...
As golden yellow leaves crash to the ground...

Walking over the brittle, crispy leaves...
Hearing the savage wolf's howl...
Ouicking my pace, looking over my shoulder...
Hearing the ominous cry of an owl...

No sunlight entered through the canopy of the path..
And there seemed to be a shadow lurching behind every tree...
The crackling leaves were blowing like crazy...
And I began to wonder if something was after me...

The darkness of the path seemed to be that of a storm...
But yet there wasn't any rain...
And I struggled to complete my journey...
Because the path was driving me insane...

But then, there was a glimmer of light...
And I could see down the path of golden yellow leaves...
My heart began to stop it's fluttering...
As I began to feel relieved...

Just then a hand touched my shoulder...
And I was too scared to move...
It seem my shoes were stuck to the ground...
As if they were glued...

The hand was cold, oh so cold...
And I couldn't scream, I couldn't shout...
I could barely even breathe...
And not a sound escaped my mouth...

I closed my eyes...
And wished for this thing to go away...
A tear squeezed through my tightly shut eyelids...
As I began to pray...

I'll end this journey...
By asking what would you do...
If something out of nowhere grab you...
Wouldn't you pray too...

Garfield~ I'd probably turn around and kick the crap out of whatever just grabbed me.......I totally loose it when I'm scared....if I can't fight, then I run like hell! This gave me the creeps...what a fantastic poem!   -SEA

SEA

I added onto this poem of mine.  It was originally suppose to end with "As I began to feel relieved."  But since it's getting close to Halloween, I decided to make it a little creepy.  Thanks for letting me know that I succeed somewhat.

Hi,
Well, I am sort of jumpy. It doesn't take an arm in the dark to make me run home as fast as I can. Thanks for the spooky tale.

I hope your paths are always well lit and you never have to experience this.

Melton
I hope you have your track shoes if something like this ever happens to you.

Marge
I think you are a brave lady. Bruce Lee in real life huh.  Swat it and then slap it down on paper.  I don't think I'll be sneaking up on you anytime soon.

Well your name says it all.  You can't cry nor can you scream. You can't run because your feet are glued to the ground. You know what, I'll bet you would turn around.

I'd be quoting scripture!!!

"When red-haired girls scamper like roses
over the rain-green grass,
and the sun drips honey.""
