Bare-naked Poet

Snow lay drifted against the house
While winter’s winds bluster and blow
Unmindful of the nature outside
He basks in the monitor’s glow

Windows shielded from reality
By posters of tropical scenes
Bookshelves lined with well-loved tomes
And beef stew and pork and beans.

Writing through Mother Nature’s wrath
The poet, bare naked and alone
Disconnected from everyday life
No TV, no radio, no phone.

Simple solitude is his lover
Poetry his sustenance
Defiance shown to accepted norm
Living his independence

So should you seek to find him
No answer will come to your knock
Alone and content, bare-naked he sits
Tending his poetic flock.

Sharon I LOVE THIS!

I don't know about just poetry sustaining though. LOL....but I absolutely loved this poem! And I know in my house in the winter, it's much to cold to sit around naked. LOL

I LOVE this!   I don't see your poetry often enough anymore.  I believe I could think of someone this poem might be fitting for too.

well... well... well... deeeeep subject... hmmmm...this is quite a piece of work, Ms. PdV... this poetic internet can be very insidious, especially for poets wearing hearts out on their sleeve... and you've put it well here... a very nice view on poetic parlays through an empty glass screen. anyway, that's how i read it..(and if i'm wrong, forgive me because all you can really ever ask out of life is a sincere apology and some decent poetry)... but this is what i see... just to add my take on your poem because you wouldn't expect any less of me *g  ...

there are 6 billion people in the world and every one of them needs love... and what better way to express it than in poetry... and to bare our souls here is truly a gift.. to have a place to be received with such open arms... and there will come love affairs and gossip and all that good stuff, just like in the "Real World"... and ain't that grand?

GOD... i LOVE this place... thanks for a great read, sharon!

and all you poetpeople.. each and every one of you... ((((hugs))))) (cool to seeyabarenakedoutthere!)< !signature-->

With each line we write we are all bare naked. Giving one piece of our cover with each poem.
Great poem.
Thanks

Thank you all for your kind replies. Doreen, there is no hidden meaning here - I'm not that good a poet to do that! This is just an image inspired by a bit of a chat. And the title is really a take off of the 'Bare-Naked Ladies'....but remember...sometime in the darkest, coldest night of winter, there will be a poet somewhere with the heat turned WAY up...sitting in front of his computer, writing poetry bare-naked!
