adagio ...

softest strings
with so hushed
a tone

perfect unison
infects
the ears

light touches
of celloing
lows

voices rising
with a quickened
pace

reaching the top
of a range
not yet heard

a sudden stop
and quiet's
pulse is again --

back to its
origins of
birth

as a kiss
from love's
adagio

M.A. Miller

(inspired by Samuel Barber's, "Adagio for Strings")

My calling before me, let quill be my offering;
For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive.

M.A.
