He's laying perched on the back of the couch,
Watching the leaves fall from the trees,
His tail darting back and forth,
For him there is no one to please.
He does what he wants, at all times,
He seldom stalks his prey,
He'd rather tell us to get it,
He likes to have his own way.
Oh sure every now and then
He'll climb up on a lap,
But he'd rather we didn't touch him
As he takes a sunbathed nap.
He cleans himself with his tongue,
And occasionally plays with yarn,
We try to put him out at night,
But he won't sleep in the barn.
Now all of this wouldn't be too bad,
If this animal wasn't a dog,
The cat's been gone for several years,
And Carl is still in a fog.
When he was just a little pup,
That cat took him for her own,
And taught him all the nasty things,
A dog should never have known.
And now we've got a kitty dog,
Who is arrogant and aloof,
Who thinks that he is the cats meow,
And would never be caught saying woof!

Oh Bonnie this is too great...lol.. As I was reading this I'm thinking, I thought this was about a dog, maybe I got it wrong cause it sure sounds like the personality of most cats, so I scrolled back up just to make sure and saw IT was in fact a dog. It all made sense as I read on and I was cracking up. That kitty of yours was obviously a wonderful teacher. Girl this brought great laughter to me on this lovely NC morning. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
Hugs,
Juls
