Balladeer likes SPAM, you know
I must expand his taste
I have a jar of Vegemite
That I don't want to waste
Now Vegemite is different
It's taste is sorta funny
And if you leave it in the sun
It goes like treacle, black and runny
Vegemite's a little salty
We drink it just like tea
It must be full of vitamins
It looks so yuck you see.

Vegemite is helpful
When you're drinking beer
It gives to you a real man's thirst
Lines the stomach, draws others near
But if it's beer you're tired of
And on alcohol you choke
You could try sipping a dead lizard
That's raspberry cordial and coke

If Vegemite's not to your taste
I know you're gonna vote for
Green pea soup, poured over pie
We call a meat pie floater
If not feeling so adventurous
You could try a dish to wank it
A sausage and sauce wrapped in bread
We've named pig in a blanket
'Deer if your stomach's roiling
You'll soon be right and tight
Just stick to white bread sangas
With Spam and Vegemite

We're from a prisoner island
We don't let things go to waste
No matter how the leavings look
They're always in good taste.

Nan,
it's a naturally inbred err inherited talent, that's nearly always in good taste.

Kethry, this made me smile, and feel just a little ill. The smile is because of the writing, and I'm feeling ill, well you can guess why. Actually it's because I'm on an early shift and haven't had anything except coffee today. (There something a little vile about eating at 5 am, well there is for me.)
Really great Keth I do like this one even if the theme did make me wince.
Take care

Marsha,
if it made you feel ill, it's done it's job. It was not meant to be serious, (although we do eat those things mentioned, ask any Aussie)
The poem started with the Olympic games and pushing Vegemite plus I've been reading Terry Pratchett
be well

Keth, you have just made Spam sound like a gourmet delight compared to these other things. No wonder it was a prisoner island..you would have to be a prisoner to eat some of those things! YUCKOS!! Is that eating funny what makes you talk funny? Just wondered

Ok - call me weird - but I think I'd like a coke with some raspberry liquor (dead lizard)
and as one who buys frozen beef and turkey pies to microwave for lunch as well as frequent cans of pea soup (with toasted garlic croutons of course) - so combining them is not a bad scheme at all (floater). but I'll pass on the Sangas thank you - ~G~ -

Just give me the Spam and some brussels sprouts and color me content.  I am with Balladeer on this one all the way.
