Aeryllis’ Tale

Knights of the ruby red and crystal blue,
Like a summer’s grace our winning glory was raining true,
Rightly true!
Until the setting of a great era past,
Our glory… our beautiful glory did not oh did not last,
Heavenly blast!
But now I tell you of how,
I was wonderfully caught on destiny’s golden prow.
So now…
It was a secluded island among twisted many a wave,
Filled so it was with splendid many a knave,
There were rose-sweet princesses to heroically save.
Yet in fact wrongly put I was indeed,
Sprouting about were majestic trees I say… myriad the seed,
This was the place to that which all-ideal beauty was freed.
I got there after faithful winds turned yellow sour,
After loyal mates began to turn green and cower,
There was nothing left… in this young soldier’s power.
We ran into a storm and tossed were we,
All about… that violent wine dark sea,
So endlessly it was… so endlessly.
Morning kissed my forehead on one day of scorn,
Lost oh so lost! I was forlorn,
Brutally torn.
Wishing does one nothing so spirited was the gait,
That I carried into the night so seemingly late,
Searching for some food on my empty plate.
Trekked did I while fertile rains would cascade,
Finding colorful fruits with lovely tastes the guardian forest sprites laid.
And then I stayed,
A day… perhaps two,
Weeks maybe… who knew?
I was truly duped… seduced by the forest sprites’ coo.
Yet it was the war that had tired my body to a still,
That my friends… broke down my iron-strong will,
Crafty skill,
But soon I was taken away from this idyllic reverie,
A child I saw… no taller I say he was than my left knee,
Smiling he did so gently.
He asked me in a voice sprinkled with flavor of the eternal star,
“What is thy name o man covered with dirt and earthly mar?”
“On that right cheek a scar,”
“Does it put past into shining light,”
“To tell a history so dark and sad but still trite,”
“Wayward knight?”
To this such profoundness… I did take in offense,
Swiftly and with a siren’s unheard eloquence I cut the suspense
“You are a boy all right… young like a newborn you speak ill-sense.”
“Prophesied to a mother and now so the name Aeryllis is of this one,”
“Lieutenant of the Ruby Armies that resonate like the red imperial sun,”
“I am this one.”
“It was seven years after the seventeenth summer to that war I was sent,”
“That I left the despair oh such that terrible air of no relent,”
“Twisted treant,”
“A tree was she who harvested a lively bounty,”
“But when taken she’d open her mouth to engulf thee,”
“Suffering so without any oh any pity.”
Hence the advent of the others of callow vein,
The eldest no older than I before my sorrowful pain,
My innocence slain.
Among the children were small creatures of colorful fur and tail
Ears cutely drooping and eyes blue like sky’s clear pale
And their voices… soft and feminine like a lamenting wail.
The young men were a marvel to catch at a glance,
Some held beauty that would hold one charmingly in a trance,
Like winter’s dance.
Others who lacked in face held unmatched strength in mind,
This I surely know… for me it is like a gifted sight hind,
For an elegant man in war without wit is a man better off blind.
Ensuing the last were the enchanting angel girls,
Flowering with long braids… silky hair… others with dazzling curls,
Such striking and aphrodisiac enrapture on a poor man… his heart so twirls.
I lost control of my trusted eyes and with each honeyed sound,
My lonely heart raced at a grieving pound,
Warm ever so purely around.
But notice the churlish nature of they did I,
A folly that caused high heaven’s solemn sigh,
Her tears so nigh.
Separate pieces of the same sacred whole against each other,
Lover and lover… sister and brother,
So now I quietly asked as one friend to another,
“How is it for your fellow child disdain you unerringly embrace,
“In such a mellow manner… you bring wretched tears to my pretty face.”
“Why in does this travesty happen in this isolated utopian place?”
“Answer this one knight,”
“Honestly so and rudely right.”
“Please alleviate yours pains my friends… let lovely Peace reign tonight.”
Yet as I questioned them none held back as if in a scare,
For the boys it was a young child with bright eyes and long blonde hair,
Who spoke up for them and accepted my planned dare.
“We cherish and enjoy the wild fruits of life knight in these lands,”
“Great adventures and tales of heroes we hold in our smooth hands,”
“However our daughters prefer of life’s wine weak and emotional brands.”
Now in the eye of one of the angel girls I saw a magical glint,
Her braids were of olive brown and breath of the sweetest mint,
Now she lighted a fury her words as steel and the argument as flint,
“Heaven allows motherly care and reception of delicate Heart… her envoy,”
“Seen are the lily-laments of Nature and her creatures by us unlike a boy,”
“Who is so full of red arrogance and seeks only to savagely destroy!”
Quickly oh I say that ever so quickly I realized their error in thought,
And so I began before further sufferings were unknowingly wrought,
To settle this I ought,
“I know a story that is very real and is of my own,”
“The courage and drama that it entails is wickedly strong in tone,”
“Love and passion decorates this tale… for without it it’d be dull as stone.”
Then the children wide-eyed me and I motioned them down to sit,
In the center I was… and a spark in all their hearts I lit,
So I lit.
Drawing up my sap to steady the flow of the teller of the tale,
I coughed and smiled… fit on that destined trail,
So came the tale.
“My name is Aeryllis and of country-green Irieshia I be,”
“That land made its sole worth by trade over the Crescent Sea,”
“Painted with violet flowers called Rellies… scented with exquisite beauty.”
“When I was of seventeen years I was called to war,”
“Distress and drilling agony for all in the war was in store,”
“As in fables and in sage lore.”
“But dreamt was a dream of an emperor with sons of three,”
“Borne from a lady whose poetic stature was from Bliss’ glee,”
“So fine were these boys… destined by Fate’s threads and fiery decree.”
“Now the firstborn with a ill birthmark which would bring about the fall,”
“Of the empire and doom her people to a ghastly pall,”
“So to bring about an awful state to all.”
“With regret the tragic emperor hung his own prince.”
“Blood stained on his elderly hands… blood that he could never rinse.”
“Tears were shed for that ill-fated prince.”
“His second son Tersto now to the imperial throne was sole heir,”
“Hazel-eyed and olive-braided child of a young lass’ prayer,”
“Lord of blue justice and silent giver of compassionate care.”
“When Tersto was twenty the austere emperor passed away,”
“Together with his wife the empress he ruled kindly so many a day,”
“Under his guidance… in open fields little children could run and play.”
“However after the fifth year of his harmonious tenure,”
“Trouble in the western lands of plagued hardship began to stir,”
“Trouble now was due to all of the empire because they began to err,”
“Tersto had outlawed slavery through suggestion of his younger brother,”
“Whose sweet gentleness had been inspired by his clement mother,”
“Love that truly surpassed any other.”
“This ruined the prosperous lands of the west that used labor that was free,”
“Causing a burning hatred and an incessant animosity,”
“For the blossoming emperor that is thee.”
“Using this as a sword the founding of the legitimate emperor they claimed,”
“By use of the cursed mark this they proclaimed.”
“Their heartless intentions were also left untamed,”
“So to ignite a revolution that’d bring west against east,”
“Tear the empire apart to bring about a bloody feast.”
“Simply destroy every damn thing in the least.”
“My friends. The world that revolved around the Crescent Sea,”
“Was ruled by a triad of empires including the empire that is thee.”
“They indoctrinated themselves with imperial laws and a peaceful melody.”
“The other two… of Silver Falcon and Moonshine Dragon would duly aid,”
“Our beloved empire in case any revolution that was carelessly made,”
“For our child enriched Crescent Sea without use of thy bittersweet blade.”
“Alas! Since now the matter was of an ethical cast,”
“Two brothers in a treacherous bout that caused a love bleeding fast,”
“Our fellow triads would not aid our empire while we all stood aghast.”
“Yet the reason is faultless… I must tell you why:”
“When the firstborn came to the west the wicked lords began to descry.”
“They used him to inspire the people to a new light in a gloomy sky.”
“So a civil war between the sides. Yet some commit not to our cause,”
“War granted these neutral states no glory nor approving applause.”
“Our child dealt swiftly… and soon set all other matters at a still pause.”
“After deliberations he set out to neighboring island-states many a plea,”
“Allies of his… at least seven gracious peoples across the Crescent Sea.”
“They drafted many young men to this heated bout… like one such as me.”
“Before I left on a mighty ship to the imperial capital of Astal,”
“My mother and father presented gifts… accepted without dishonor or gall.”
“At seventeen rosy years… I was quick, agile, and spiritedly tall.”
“’Son… take this sword that is of our prided and gilded line,”
“’Estalline… she is your protector when it is with red demons you dine.”
“’Watch her glow! Keep her clean always so to hold her celestial shine.”
“’Son… take this necklace that is a memento of your only mother dear,’”
“’How it breaks my heart! Tears cloud my once bright eyes as I fear.”
“’But I feel proud of my son… Lumina’s knight’s unparalleled peer.’”
“I know I cried for many nights on end… it was a moment sad,”
“For parents like that… forevermore I know I have been glad.”
“I’m blessed a lucky lad.”
“Our fight was hard for three years at a blood stained border of death’s lair,”
“We lost so many… like red-haired Astione… whirlwind of autumn air.”
“Brave Venyll… shimmering mimic of blue lightning’s own dancing flare!”
“And charismatic Reynesté… courageous commander of fatherly weather.”
“Amongst these men were the Irieshian… dexterous as an eagle feather,”
“Like me there was Rechallès… leadership and loyalty… his holy tether.”
“We countrymen demonically fought alongside,”
“Keeping each other alive and the our army in full stride,”
“A forever pushing stride.”
“But when the fourth year came upon us our barriers began to break,”
“All around us… our fortifications began to quiver and shake,”
“Our destiny’s unrivaled ruinous quake.”
“At this time I was promoted to Ruby Knight whilst we suffered turmoil,”
“Rechalles to Crystal Knight… aye he was too whilst in this rugged coil,”
“We could not have our much needed morale… come to disastrously spoil.”
“At the battle of Dolgaròs the young prince did perorate the men and I,”
“Gave us a dashing lashing! Moistened heroics that rejuvenate deserts dry,”
“Were of this speech… so chaste and velvet like a small child’s lullaby.”
“’Adhere closely to my chosen words of faith and hear them ever so well,’”
“’Tragic men whose endless days have been in the sorrows of dark hell,’”
“’I know… I know those awful pains that you wish to quell.’”
“’Only a few here are without loved ones who they have left behind,’”
“’Who you think about before the battles of chaos in which we entwined,’”
“’Ourselves to nightmare… searching for thy escape that we so never find.’”
“’But now my friends! You must use them as your guardian shield!’”
“’The almighty and brutal sword that you must staunchly wield,’”
“’As you charge into Black Death’s unforgiving and doleful field.’”
“’Cry out I say!’”
“’Cry out their names when you burst into that fray,’”
“’Carry forever their memory and cry it out! They shall show you the way!’”
“’When the battle carries on to newborn sunset,’”
“’Your wife or lover… your son or daughter… you must not forget!’”
“’Honor to houses of fathers and mothers… at home tears soil ground wet!’”
“’Victory to us… men who united serve our loved ones and the empire!’”
“’Whilst we are fighting… we do so protect they and our beloved sire,’”
“’Charge men! With unbridled fury and light heaven’s wild-blue fire!’”
“And rallied were our souls! Cry out we did and a tremendous clamour!”
“Twinkling in our luminous gowns… so striking in lucent glamour,”
“Once Lovely Battle shone we smashed our foes with thy colossal hammer!”
“I hearkened the fellowmen’s cries and triple kind I did indeed follow,”
“So by sweet Estalline I cut the away the young bucks of the shrilling doe!”
“My derived power of woe they did now so sincerely know.”
“Rechallès who dressed fantastically black with long jet hair,”
“Raced out into battle on top of his nightmarish ebony mare,”
“He drew out the names of his lover and child… so to fight with him there.”
“In the end our foes suffered a harsh defeat… we surpassed Destiny’s trial.”
“But fallen was the young prince… that master of lullaby and witty guile,”
“Caught by an arrow of a man who peered him in heart and style.”
“It was at this time Silver Falcon made to intervene because of pity,”
“The prince’s death filled the Silver Emperor with anguish and enmity,”
“An armada of ships was now sent to aid now our imperial city.”
“However Moonshine Dragon permitted this to the grieving extent,”
“That if our emperor should fall… then the remaining triads should relent.”
“So it came to pass that on the path of the capital the westerners were bent.”
“By the fifth year battles were being fought around the emperor’s citadel,”
“Now children! Now the intrinsic reason for this tale I shall tell,”
“Sit quiet and listen closely for a spell.”
“During this year our troops were often outnumbered to the face doom,”
“Inspired enemies ran about like fiendish demons in full bloom,”
“An utter bloom.”
“The very women and children in this fair citadel here,”
“Were always on their minds… even with gruesome death was near,”
“That allowed them to fight… that allowed them to hold back death’s fear.”
“And those women and children I saw with my own two eyes!”
“The females were strong for their men and suppressed those painful cries,”
“The sons proudly kept faith and for thy enemies a look of hated despise.”
“They gave each other strength that revolved around a magical dance!”
“You could count every step… one… two… such an everlasting dance!”
“So like winter romance.”
“It was in the sixth year that our forces only a thousand and allies so late,”
“Tresto ordered us to the Crystalline Tower and there we would await,”
“The coming of our expected savior and date.”
“Since Silver Falcon was in flight and the brother required only his head,”
“To the ancient tower of burial and abominable traps we were led,”
“So inlaid with such ingenious devices to guard the emperors when dead.”
“Its design gave us the chance to ambush our enemy blind,”
“In terror and in confusion them we would so bind,”
“Even with odds of twelve to a lonely one… their cruel fates we’d wind.”
“She herself was massive in size and nine levels to high heaven,”
“Spiraled staircases snaked round in cryptic circles… they were seven,”
“And when thy stone glistened by pale moonlight… rainbows were eleven.”
“An intricate water system was deep within her hard chest,”
“We would be nourished and replenished by her motherly breast.”
“Stock the place with food we would… so for many days would could rest.”
“I so swear to you it was on a night of a full moon,”
“That the nightmare begun! All men suckled by her and turned lune.”
“The diabolical trick would so last long… far passing newborn noon.”
“Traps of secret mechanical spears drew out the souls of those men,”
“Hidden pitfalls broke beneath the floor and took them all by ten,”
“And our well versed waylays from the dark… succeeded again and again!”
“As it was… they needed to find passages to lead them to the next height,”
“To reach Tresto high above before the descent of Silver Falcon’s flight,”
“So to give his brother imperial right.”
“Not until the passing of a month did the passage they procure,”
“Then another week passed… the scaling of another level we did endure,”
“Repeated twice more… this mysterious fact we begun to regrettably inure.”
“Rechallès grew suspicious and me alone he would warn,”
“Of a man whose traitorous nature would cause women our men to mourn,”
“And it would be the face of a friend that this man had worn.”
“At last on the fated day the fifth level was breached,”
“The face of that very man my noble ally had finally reached,”
“Just as my noble ally had gravely preached.”
“Long-haired Rechallès launched himself against this man of conspire,”
“An exalted commander who dressed in skilled and cunning attire,”
“Now tried to devour all our blood efforts in a war that causes us so to tire.”
“While in that heated engagement which caused both sides to ardently flail,”
“Rachallès tried hard but on him bright thrusting comets would assail.”
“And then he cried out to me! As he suffered such horrid a painful ail,”
“’Aeryllis! Do me this favor my friend… as it is I do not plan to die!’”
“’So do I wish to see my lovely lady and child… listen now! Ask not why!’”
“’Kill the horned man who causes our defeat… abstain not until death cry!’”
“A peril came across my brow… yet I knew… I knew I had to do this,”
“It was a man I saw dressed in a black vest… a man who I could not miss,’”
“Shadowy leggings as well… and a horned helm… I reminisce,”
“He of youthful arrogance like myself… struck out with a chained blade,”
“Like an ax the end had twin blades… it hit an ally and his life thus fade.”
“I was facing one just like myself… fierceness and honor of our trade,”
“In the arena… hundreds of lengths wide and tall… a trap noticed lone,”
“I did. It was then I stared into blue eyes… inside I heard a child’s moan.”
“He threw it but slant did the ground beneath… for the trap I had blown.”
“Even as he fell first the terror flew up to me… a sure cause of worry.”
“I screamed and deflected once with Estalline. But twice not in thy story.”
“It cleaned my chest and cheek… but that was not the end of my glory!”
“Arms extended I held sweet Estalline and plunged straight into thy abyss,”
“Thrust silver Estalline straight into that jet vest and gave him death’s kiss.”
“I closed my heavy eyes after I heard that man’s last cry and bitter hiss.”
“Once I regained consciousness the end of the islanders’ battle I was told,”
“The Silver Falcon had descended because of our timely hold.”
“I agreed to retreat with my countrymen… for my body and mind felt cold,”
“That is the end of my tale children… my precious tale of life,”
“I hope now you will see the love… and later on take husband or wife.”
“Like winter romance this bond… keeps thy happiness and at bay thy strife.”
After her end the those little boys and angel girls thanked me so tonight,
I was led off to a secluded place and took to sleep to rest all fatigued might,”
At last I was in those arms of blissful night.
However when I awoke in a different bed I saw a friend’s face,
Rechallès was the magnificent one that ruled this awesome place.
He had been granted these lands after the emperor had heard his tragic case.
The boy who had tested me earlier ago… the one who had given me lip,
Was friend to his son… told him and in turn gave his father the same tip,
So to have me taken to his warm home… and give me fresh meat to nip.
We caught up on old times and my health he did restore,
Of my friend… I could ask no more,
But he of me asked to tell family and welcomed friends the story of thy war.
So now I have told the story to all of you… it is at an end.
Yet it is not time to settle a new story… we have new adventures to attend,
I am so glad to see you… my good friend!
