(Do not read if you are religiously sensitive or easily offended)

Set aside your quilt and pride,
Make room inside your heart.
Rise above with grace and love,
This is your brand new start...

In the Church of Norma Jean,
In the Temple Of The Blonde,
I believe in The Beautiful
And the great beyond.

Go witness to the lonely,
Share the good news with your friends.
New evidence implies that...
Marilyn died for your sins.

I woke one night to blinding light,
I heard her sacred voice
"You must escape the mental rape,
My child, you have a choice!
Cast out your indecision,
Follow me, I know the way.
Come share the mystic vision,
Black and white, both straight and gay."

Marilyn died at the hands of opression
Calling all victims of circumstance
Send her your prayers and your silent confession
Marilyn died but there's still a chance
Marilyn died at the hands of opression
Hollywood killed her, oh it's sad but true
In this world of greed and self obsession
Marilyn died, but there's hope for you!

In the Church of Norma Jean,
In the Temple of the Blonde.
I have faith in deliverance,
And the PEACE beyond.

Believe and receive new life,
As fear and chaos ends.
She died and through her suicide,
Empowerment begins.

She died that you may live,
As self esteem descends.
She died, prehaps not FOR,
But BECAUSE of our sins!

Those ballistic-voyeuristic-egotistic-un-realistic

SINS!

Amen and Blessed Be!

This poem started as lyrics for a high energy dance song, I admit some readers will think it is controversial, but the words should not be taken too literally, I confess I intended a little shock value. Ultimately I see it as a statement about how Women need to love themselves and not be at the complete mercy of men, learning to survive, to stand up & be counted, knowing that they are complete persons, who don't have to have a man to be whole. It's a POP Art sort of thing, And a tribute to Norma Jean Baker, also known as Marilyn Monroe!

So.... if, even gods die.... where did you go from there..? Another good question is, "How did you get here." Male.......... he's only just your dad... without him you'd have nothing to say... "I feel a little bias coming out in this work but never the less a good write and I'm going to go along with SunShine." You've got your words to say... And it's your time...

I see multi-layered depths of significance here, Todd.... and you've said a great deal, controversial or not..

Hi Sunshine, thanks so much for reading!

Lucky thank u2, of course it is biased, even calling Earth a mother is biased, I am personally more keen on a female planet & supreme being, it's rather nurturing 4 me, I appreciate your input! Goddess Bless!

Thank you Nan for seeing the layers! Believe it or not, I find this piece rather comical!

Todd,
Controversial or not a poet has to express what they see as important. I do not agree with you, but I cannot deny the fact that you have written well.

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love

Very well written Todd, I enjoyed this. It's amazing, the many effects Hollywood and the glamour crowd have on society at large, very thought-provoking read!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Daniel, I appreciate that you find it well written, like other stories & books, poems can also be fiction or non-fiction & this one is more of a statement on how Hollywood creates these screen gods. I surely don't kneel and pray to Marilyn each night. I was just experimenting with ideas. Again thank you!

As always Kit thanx! This could just have easily been called Elvis Died and been about the Church of Graceland and The Temple of the King... LOL... I might do a MALE version.
Coming from you the comments mean alot!

Toddles...hey guy where you been? Ive missed you...it takes a strong woman...a confident woman to be able to look at herself and say the hell with what the world thinks...I AM ME...you're right in that Hollywood and all the ads depict their idea of THE perfect woman...but who is to say what is ideal? My ideal man is definitely NOT the marlboro man...but he may be some other womans...your ideal woman may be the girl next door...beauty is an individual ideal...and no one tells me what that is but me....great write...sorry I rambled so LOL

Indeed I do LOL... Thanks for the post... Same computer, used by 5 different individuals here, of course my friend and fellow poet Tallulah is my Grace, (Like Will & Grace) & Cole (N2Wishin) is my insignifigant owner of 11 years, I have no secrets, but hey, it bumps the material back to the top and I get more feedback & constructive input that way!
Again Thanx for the reply!
