Go  Mets!!!

Bottom of the ninth and only one out to go
Three games to one and just 3 stikes away
The "Mets" struck down with a mighty blow
As the Cardinals were not up to par on this day

No swing of their bats could match the heart
That New York showed in that one final game
Every Met that day gave their all and did their part
And now they celebrate in a well deserved fame

On to the big show they will be going out to prove
That this was no fluke nor just a piece of lady luck
They are in a player's zone ... in that special groove
Where so often others would only find themselves stuck

So I bow to their excellence in play for America's game
And will proudly root for them as they so well deserve
I will give no excuses nor will I try to place any blame
But watch out next year for that famous Cardinal curve

Oh boy Mark ... now I've got "Take me out to the ballgame" singing through my mind, and hotdogs on the brain, LOL!

This was a great all-American read, well done!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Well, Mark, I must hand it to you.  Very nicely written.  This I will definitely keep in my files.  It was worth waiting for.
You are a great sport and I enjoyed every minute of our bet.  Good luck next year, as I'm sure 'Big Mac' will be back.  (not that he poses much threat to the World Series Champion Mets, but that's another story...)
Sorry.  A little competition left in me.  It's all out now!
Excellent poem, my friend!  Talk to you soon!

sp-You snuck in on me and I am glad you enjoyed it.  Now, you might want to get started on that one of yours for me for next year because something tells me that "Big Mac" will be healthy next year and though I will admit that it will be no easy task to take down the Mets, it will be done.    See ya at the game.  Your buying the beers right?

Mark my friend, I'm totally bemused, I have absolutely no clue, what I'm reading, but it sounds great fun. (I'm the woman, who understands nothing, about any sport.) But it's obviously a great poem, and it's very exciting. So tell me again, who won? (and don't all shout at me because I don't know!)
Take care

Evening Mark,

Very well done Mark, and the effects are excellent. This one about the Mets and Cardinals is just great.

Not being an avid sports fan, I still loved this one, because if I had to watch a sporting event, it would be baseball, because they take their time!  I love the CUBS
