A Fallen Star
~*Marge Tindal*~

Last night I saw a shooting star
careening across the sky
I made a wish that it would fall
into a heartfelt sigh

I found a fragment of that wish
upon the rising of the dawn
In burned-out glory laying
midst the morning dew on my lawn

I fingered it so lightly
caressed it to my heart just knowing
It held the wishes of many
etched in it's points once glowing

It seemed to catch the spirit
of loving wishes that I knew
were yet to be fullfilled
before the next night was through

As it became a breathing wish
I flung it back to the night
and there it hung just waiting
for another heart in which to light

So if you see a shooting star
streak across the night you may
walk gently on the morning knowing
I sent a wish your way

Catch the spirit of loving wishes...
this one soothes the soul Marge. I too thought of the song..."catch a falling star and put it in your pocket save it for a rainy day"
Good work.

Marge, this is so lovely, and makes me think I will continue wishing after all. And I truly wanted to thank you for your poem that you left for me yesterday. I believe it may have even changed my attitude from the bottom of the world, to somewhere looking up, at least.
Thanks for all your wonderful writings.

As sure as the stars come out tonight
With lots of twinkle and lots of light
I'll make a wish with your name in mind
and send it scurrying, your heart to find

When all the stars
come out to play
I'll send a loving
wish your way

I send you wishes each and every night
to land in your heart with lots of light

sent from this heart through the skies above

Wonderful bit of poetry,
But no punctuation?
That’s alright, a fine example of how line breaks
are just as much of poetic punctuation
As a comma or even a semi-colon.
