Upon a cold and barren shore
there walked a lonely soul.
His only friends the ocean's roar
and bitter wind blow'n cold.

The biting gust touched not his skin,
though most of him laid bare.
The loss of love that might have been,
left frozen deep dispair.

Though crash of waves assailed his ears,
he heard not of their sound.
They could not drown the wail that tears
of emptiness will pound.

Sharp rocks and shells bit hard his feet,
no sandals did he wear.
He walked on to his soles' mistreat,
that hurt he paid no care.

His broken heart no pain could match,
which once with joy was filled.
Compared, all wounds were but a scratch
to love left unfulfilled.

I was swept away by the oceans roar and how vividly you described each line, simply beautiful welcome and I look forward to reading more. I find tranquility on the beach, it does give you a peace when all seems gloomy.

Mike,
You make quite an entrance my friend. I know that beach that you describe so well. You paint an eloquent picture
