In my heart I still love you,
yet in my heart I know I shouldn't.
My mind tells me I should go,
but my heart begs me to stay.

My words don't come easy,
since my inspiration was taken away.
I choke on the words I long to speak,
while knowing I must refrain.

As I sift through the ashes of a broken heart,
I find the smouldering remains of the fire
that once raged deep inside.
Rememberances of the love we once shared.

I know I must resurrect the remnants,
and rebuild this shattered heart.
I must continue my quest for happiness,
this long, lonely trek without you by my side.

As I begin this long journey back to reality,
always remember just one important thing.
You were loved by someone far, far away,
and that someone just happens to be me.

"If you love someone, set them free. If they come back to you, they're yours. If not, they never were to begin with."

This is such a moving, well written expression of deep pain and loss...

Sometimes it aches so doesn't it? This thing called life...

Thanks everyone! I always try and delve deep inside my soul and bring forth my purest emotions, then transfer them to my writing.  What I call "Messages From My Heart"  Thanks again.

Very good.   I have a poem written like this somewhere. It is immature in its wording though because I wrote it when I was younger. Nice work here!
