The Shores of Alone

You promised me a passion
of legendary fame,
instead you brought disinterest
and ever growing pain.

You offered me some magic,
some happiness again.
You only brought me bitter crumbs,
the smallest time to lend.

You made me think you wanted
our time as much as I,
and now I see you didn't
and I feel like I could die.

Another moment lost to us,
a time we can't recover.
I see the truth, but close my eyes,
my heart begins to shudder.

I have to be much stronger
than I really feel inside.
I must perfect the happy face
and later on I'll cry.

Goodbye my prince of many hopes
my man of thousand dreams.
I know I have to move on now,
although the pain's extreme.

So just for now, I say au revoir
but not for all of time.
A day will come when things will change,
I'll see your special sign.

And on that day, you'll open up
your arms to me again.
And I will fall back into them,
to never leave again.

rofl!! i'm laughing at myself... i clicked on your title and i thought yet ANOTHER member of passions was bidding the site goodbye with another story of sorrow...

i'm happy that wasn't it... lol

but if this song is based on your life, i'm  sorry to hear you are going through a goodbye... it's not easy... i know... and this is a well written piece with a lot of emotion... very well done!!!

oh, but if you decide to leave, you can always come back under a different name and nobody will know it's you!!! rofl... i'm just messin' with ya, girl!!! great writing.. thanks for the read!

CatalinaMoon~
Such a lovely, lovely write.
Touching the tenderest reasons for loving to begin with.
I'm quite moved at your grace in this piece.

The grace of the lovliest of hearts in the most deserving way of the true meaning of a "lady" in love.  Wonderful write.

catalinamoon,  Still sad but it sounds like you might be ready to move on.  Your sadness makes for beautiful, emotional pieces.  Hope the happiness I pray for you to find does the same.

Saying goodbye yet still holding onto some hope...I know this feeling...I know that I will find love with another but I am still thinking to myself why couldn't it be this one...why must it always be the next one...James

"I see the truth, but close my eyes"--I think that's where most of us go wrong.  I have to wonder, if I'd left my eyes open to all that was going on, would I still have fallen this hard?  Sadly, I think the answer is yes.

Take me as I am or watch me as I go

Moving on is hard to do when there is still love left.....this is wonderfully written and conveys just the right mix of sadness, resignation and hope!!!

Have courage!!!  Tomorrow is yet another day

Sandra,

This is a beautiful and sad poem, all in one.
I once went through a relationship like this, where my eyes were closed to the truth.  Sadly, it didn't work out.

I wish you alot of happiness and luck in your life.

Great poem!

Must have missed this poem earlier...you sure do sad poems justice...

I have to be much stronger
than I really feel inside.
I must perfect the happy face
and later on I'll cry.

hang on...it'll all work out.

Cat-
I've known such feelings - as they say: "been there, done that" - but never espressed them with such heartfelt emotion - I shall pray your long term hopes are realized - but not necessarily with this lover - you deserve so much better one that will never leave even once.

even I must agree....been there, done that...
can feel the comfort when people write about the same ache......with deeply emotions.
you have expressed your feelings so well.

(((warm hug))

Take care ....Charisma

Sandra, I see faith and desire in your words...a resolve to hope and believe in the magic of love. Charming read.
