(feeling a little country and westernish this morning   )

Missed the plane - missed the boat
There's no train - that's all she wrote
Now I don't know what I'm gonna do...

Broke my thumb  -  can't hitch a ride
Feel so glum    -  my donkey died..
Got no way of getting back to you.

Don't know where my surfboard's at
Roller skate has got a flat..
Got a great big hole in my right shoe...
Propeller's broken on my cap
Some smart feller stole my map...
Got no way of getting back to you.

I told you I'd be coming back to get you
Told you I'd be coming back to stay..
I don't want you to think that I'd forget you
But it's no joke - my compass broke
And I can't find my way!!

Pogo stick has lost its spring
Got no stick to roll my ring
Red wagon fell apart when I was two.
Stagecoach wouldn't let me on..
Well, that's it...my hopes are gone
Got no way of getting back to you

Baby~

If I had to do it
I'd gladly jump right to it
Man, I'm really not so dumb,
give me a highway ...
and my thumb !

I'd use whatever mode it takes
to get to you
make no mistake.
If you were too far from me
I'd grab a vine and swing the trees !
Me Jane ... me learn from you ... pleaaaaase !

You're just WONDERFUL !

I like this feeling of yours ...
Hope it bites again !

Love ya'!

well, they always say... whoever "they" are anyway... you can never go back... and often they are right... but, there's always SOME kind of perfect transportation to go forward and i wouldn't recommend a pogo stick or thumbing a ride or a propeller on your hat anyway -- and the thing about it is, there is no map that's really right because the cartographers more than likely screwed up somewhere and everything changes every day.... so unless you have a map that's updated on an hourly basis, if you follow one, you could get lost, so maybe that map thief really was a smart feller... 'cause you wouldn't have wanted to end up at the wrong place... or something...

your poem was a Balladeer gem... humorous, yet poignant... and very touching... i LOVE it! it's the type of poem you print out, carry with you forever in a very special place where you keep important treasures so you can read it and know that even though you  can't go back, you never know what's up ahead and if you keep your eye out for just the right transportation, you might just get to some really cool perfect place and who knows? maybe the 5:07 train passes by again... y'know?

or something... rofl... obviously, i thought this poem was on a deeper level than some of the others who have responded, and i know this isn't the CA forum or anything, so please excuse my desire to express my feelings about it... now that i've rambled, maybe i need some critical analysis... geez   luvya!

Has the same sweet country flavor as that old chestnut: "I've got tears in my ears from lying on my back in my bed while I cry over you"... - brought the same smile to my face

What was I thinking?  Forget the wings, there's a stagecoach going every day and Miss Kitty must be waiting anxiously.

'Deer I heard you're feeling blue
I could loan you my kangaroo
the course of true love should not impede
if you want, I have a mountain steed
The only problem's transport out
but don't you worry it my shout
anything for love so true
anything else I can do for you?

They say if you play a country and western song backwards, you get the dog back, the girl back, and so on ... soooooo if I read this wonderful poem backwards ... does that mean I'll discover you found a way to get back to me? LOL!

Loved this Michael!

Best wishes,
/Kit
