Let me fly, let me loose
Let me go the way I choose
Don't make me walk a minute in your shoes
For I am grown now.

Chorus: My child I'll not forgo it
Though, your love is dear to me
And though you may not know it
It's ever clear to me
Until you hurt and dare to show it
You will always be
a child to me.

Let me go, let me try
I've the wings so let me fly
Let me soar so I can touch the sky
For I am grown now

Chorus

Let me run and never falter
Don't tie me to your halter
Your tales don't turn my legs to water
For I am grown now.

Chorus

Let me climb up with the eagles,
Don't hold me with your legalese
I'll not run through your steeples
For I am grown now.

Chorus

Can I return to comfort all
For the world has let me fall
And I am standing not so tall
And feeling small now.

My child, my child  I love you so
Your love is dear to me
And yet I gladly let you go
It's ever clear to me
For you have learned the seeds you sow
are returned, and an adult finally be

This was awesome
It totally described how we all feel/felt at a point in our young adulthood.... exactly how I feel right now

excellent writing

Excellent work!  Lyrical writing can be very tricky, indeed.  But you have a made a mockery of that statement.
Waiting patiently with the others for it's smashing debut...

'Deer three smiles. Wow! Thanks.

Kathleen. I'm glad I came back too. Now If I can just find a way to cut those apron strings.

Alan. you know what they say "music is in the ear of the beholder"

Mark. Debut? you obviously didn't read my poem about my music ability, response to Sunshine's challenge.

Trew, That's right I make a mockery for I am the mock turtle.

Gemini Thanks. It saves on gas when it's heart warming that way.

Wil, thanks for the super. Is that short for superintendent by any chance?

Eagle One. thanks for stopping by.

Be well
