Most friends I've known are distanced now
pursuing destiny.
They're fondly missed and yet somehow
this prospect pleases me.
For closeness oft' will blind the eye
that otherwise would see,
intricacies of grand design
lost in proximity.
In solitude these wisps of thought
long dormant and subdued,
emerge spun crisp their fibers taut
with essences imbued,
of all those on this spinning wheel
that n'er stray far from mind.
Think not that in Absentia
to you I have gone blind.

A vast array of subtle hues
now tint the yarns that weave
their color into ev'ry line,
which promted me to leave
this scrap of cloth as testament
to what you may not know,
that bound within each filament
some part of you will show.

Let the warmth of fabric chosen
soft caress with gentle heat.
While these words stay inter-woven
in an infinite repeat.

Hmmm... say Doc Mooose... this one reminds me of the Beatles tune "In My Life".  Recently I ran into an old friend... it was nice to see him, and though I was given his number, I've no great desire to maintain that relationship today.  I'd like to view him as a patch in the greater quilt of my life... not a reoccuring theme.  Such are the thoughts you've brought me to with this bit from Absentia.  Once again, Peace!

There have been a few poets here whose work I wish I had written due to its brilliance. This is one of them. I am at a loss for words, other than excellent!

Dr. Moose 1---You continue to amaze me, poem after poem...gotta admit, loved the title too...I've got a thing for warm blankets...

But truly, this is quite brilliant.  But ouch, you do make me think!
