Between a laugh and a tear...

What About Me

I see you marching by so proud and free
If your heart and soul they could only see
Some only notice how you’re different from us
But you go quietly on, you make no fuss

The years you've worked for that small gain
Just like the rest you had sacrifice and pain
Your time in the sun is here, finally it has come
In Sydney Australia, the Paralympics have begun

You represent your country and do us proud
Always give your best, hoping there'll be a crowd
Great distances you've come, from near and far
Athletes one and all, yes you truly are a star!

So often overlooked as a non-event, these athletes should be recognized far more than they are now.
Excellent poem and a fine tip o' the hat!

EagleOne,
As an able athlete I know what it is like to be cheered. You show here your heart's concern for the many Paralympians in Sydney. They shall compete in the spirit of the Games celebrating humanity and sport, and forgetting the adversities of the world. Great tribute. Well done

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love

Now this is a brilliant poem, very well done, so often these althletes are ignored, and you have written a brilliant tribute to them. Wonderful, and so very well written.
Take care

Oh yes!  *applauds loudly*  This is fantastic!!!

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

EagleOne~
This is just a wonderful piece...They all make us proud don't they, my only gripe is that we only get coverage of the games for 1 hour at night at about 11pm ((stinks))....thanks for sharing such a wonderful piece
