Spark to wick
flicker to flame
light the night
once again it came
shadows fall
flame's glow to entrance
watch her flow
Sen's candle dance

In a secret garden
summers humid mist
poet and  verse
engage in poetic tryst
gifted pen
gifted eyes
poetic pleas
poetic reprise
hear her song
hear her cries
sing her harmony
sing softly a lullaby

Wish on the stars
Kiss the moon
dance this dance
for the night ends too soon
Inspiration born
her sweet poetic curse
taste her rhyme
inhale her verse
by candle  glow
her muse on high
read her words ...
witness her fly

Match to wick
Spark to flame
poetry is thy creed
Serenity is thy name

matchbox twenty
from the cd: Yourself or Someone Like You

She says it's cold outside, and she hands me my raincoat
She's always worried about things like that.
She says it's all gonna end, and it might as well be my fault
And she only sleeps when it's raining,
And she screams, and her voice is straining,
She says baby,
It's 3AM I must be lonely,
When she says baby,
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes,
Says the rains gonna wash away I believe it.

She's got a little bit of something, God it's better than nothing
And in her color portrait world she believes that she's got it all
She swears the moon don't hang as quite as high as it used to.
And she only sleeps when it's raining,
And she screams, and her voice is straining,

She says baby,
It's 3AM I must be lonely,
When she says baby,
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes,
Says the rains gonna wash away I believe it.

She believes that life is made up of all that you're used to
And the clock on the wall, has been stuck at three for days
She thinks that happiness is a mat that sits on her doorway
And outside, it's stopped raining.

Then she says baby,
It's 3AM I must be lonely,
When she says baby,
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes,
Says the rains gonna wash away I believe it.

It's 3AM I must be lonely,
Oh When she says baby,
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes,
Says the rains gonna wash away I believe it.

Sweet...This was enjoyable to read...and I loved the way the first ran so smoothly...

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

Janet, this is gorgeous.

Spark to wick
flicker to flame
light the night                               once again it came
shadows fall

Perhaps the simplest lines, but I love the rhythm.

Beautiful tribute to a friend that you love and of course she is worth every word anyway.  Your muse writes within your heart and finds the pen so easily and so masterfully these days.  See rehab does help!!!!

JanetMarie~
Such a sweet intricate verse for our Serenity.

You've captured her well.

I don't know who this "Serenity" person is, but JM - you've done it with this one. A fine tribute to a (I guess... ) fine lady (man?)

OK - Teasing aside - Knowing Ms. S'en as I do - I can definitely see the pertinance of that particular song. I know it's rare for me to come on in the middle of the night (the song fits me too...) and not find her there, ready to harass ... errr... talk to me.

Hugs to both o' you!

JM-
oooooo...this one's pur-dee.
i like the second stanza a lot, for the images and the parallel couplets. they're so cool!
i've never been candle dancing, but it sounds very...magickal...
the MB20 was also a nice touch. i am not sure of what meaning it holds for you two, but for me it was a song for me and my best friend and i still think of her when i hear it.
a wonderful verse, as always.
a flight of fancy and candle dancing.
the words are magically prancy,
and while Jan's dream
is tribute to serenty's poetic entrancing
i just can't seem
to shake this vision a candle really dancing.

I am reminded of the immortal words of Socrates who said, "I drank what?"
