My life is an open book
the pages are blank you see,
there must be someone to fill them
and write the words with me.

Maybe helping to write a few sentences
to fill up this empty page,
and perhaps to add a chapter or two
before it grows faded and worn with age.

It might end up with a happy ending
or it might just be a tragedy,
     but we won't know until we turn the last page;
yes we will have to wait to see.

When the last page is finally written
and the period is marked on the last line,
maybe it will turn into a beautiful saga
and the story will be yours and mine.

George Bailey thought
Very much like you do.
His pages were blank
For all that he knew.

He felt like a failure
He cursed all his strife.
Was sure there was nothing
To show for his life.

But Martini and Harry
Knew otherwise
He was a hero
In everyone's eyes.

I know that you yearn
For a Hollywood end
But look back on the lives
You've altered my friend.

The end point is not
What matters they say
But the number of hearts
That you touch on the way.

Now I don't keep count
Of the deeds that you've done
But the among the hearts touched
You may count mine as one.
