~Ever Near~

Rose washed twilight ... the heavens streaked in lavender shades and lilac hues,
the night swallows gather and dance above ... they sing to me a lullaby of blues.
Satin skies of black ebony ... orange glow of harvest moon ...
cascade of crystalline stars ... all serve to remind ... you were taken too soon.

Midnight's translucent mist ... ribbons of gentle, healing, rain,
mystical clouds of soft gray comfort ... embrace me and ease my pain.
At the calm dark waters edge ... dance iced blue reflections of light ...
to again feel you near ... I need only to taste the night.

You once promised to give me ... the sun, the wind, the moon, the stars ...
and I now know you did ... for my love ... that's where you are.
You are the warm winds that whisper to me ... the golden sun upon my face,
you are my earth and sky enchanted ... my time transcending into space.

Silver laced strands of moonlight shadows ... the celestial glow felt deep within,
sparkling rains that fall like diamonds ... glistening like angel dust upon my skin.
The first shimmering flakes of winters snow ... azure ice castles in the sky,
you are the quiet changing of my seasons ... the forgiving tears angels cry.

You are where ever natures grace and beauty can be found,
and it is by these gifts ... and my undying love ... we are forever bound.

Janet Marie

for DeVante' ... always with me

***********
No fog clear in the moonlight
The stars shine so bright now's the time
I close my eyes - soft wind touching my face
Cool sand upon the place where I once kissed you
And held you close
Now I will reach for the stars
Because Oh my love, that's where you are

~On The Sea~
Vertical Horizon
from the CD Live Stages

No fog clear in the moonlight
The stars shine so bright now's the time
I close my eyes - soft wind touch my face
Cool sand upon the place where I once kissed you
And held you close
Now I will reach for the stars
Because Oh my love, that's where you are

Chorus:
Though the storms of black night rage on
I still see your face
I still feel your lips on mine
And though my heart feels all alone without you
I still hear you sing to me
I still hear your voice on the sea

Waves crash break the silence
Gulls cry a song of lament
I walk on through the stormy night
The air cries flash of anger
Dark night enshrouds the stranger all alone without you
Now I will reach for the stars
Because Oh my love, that's where you are

Chorus

No fog clear in the moonlight
The stars shine so bright now's the time
I close my eyes - soft wind touching my face
Cool sand upon the place where I once kissed you
And held you close
Now I will reach for the stars
Because Oh my love, that's where you are

You captured me with the first stanza!  I am a sucker for colors, and you have so brilliantly illustrated nature's beauty here!
Love it!!

Jan my friend, you have captured the beauty of your love for vante in the most amazing imagery imaginable.  I didn't think it possible but you have found a new level to reach as you lept from mere masterpiece to poetic perfection in every means possible in this one.  Yes, it "IS" your best to date by far and the 10's are no longer the strength as you excelled beyond that and written a new scale.

Strikingly beautiful Janet Marie! Incredible images you've painted with your words here ... these lines simply captured me ...

"You once promised to give me ... the sun, the wind, the moon, the stars ...
and I now know you did ... for my love ... that's where you are."

What a beautiful image this brings to mind, in and of itself ... indeed, they are always close to us JM, all we need do is look around us ... beautiful!

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

~Janet~

this swept me up from beginning to end. no other poetry effects me like yours does. the images you created in this were short of nothing but spectacular. i could see the moon, the black sky. i could feel the sun, and the breeze. your words paint a picture for all to see. and what a beautiful picture you "paint". i love reading your work...because I know that everytime I do, I have gotten a glimpse of what beautiful poetry is. take care.

Janet Marie, this is breathtaking, I'm awed, absolutely amazing writing. Mere words cannot descibe the utter beauty of this. Well my mere words can't, maybe a master poet could do you justice, but not little me.
It's the imagery, there are a few who have the consumate skill for painting such vivid pictures.
Yes I really love this.
Take care

Jan,

There are no words that can possibly describe how I felt when I read this or just how totally amazing your pen of love is, when DeVante pays us a visit.  You know how much I adore and admire your talents.  Your muse has served you well today, as he always does when he and you share your hearts .........

Thank you again, my loyal friend.
