*inspired by a reply I made to Irish Rose's poem, Ribbons of Forever*

it happens
when the mellow yellow of a saxophone
joins in the smoky gray air
with the midnight indigo of a clarinet
the notes of blue sounding
and reflecting off the redorange glow
of candles flaming in the black
of the darkened club

the deep dark brown of the bass
echoes through the room
illuminated by the silver brush of the snare
that's when
the phrases of heartbreak
bring back the skyblue memories
of loves and lovers past
the crystal tear of loss

then those colors
fade themselves for the words
the dusty rose voice of the singer
her golden hair hiding the pain behind oceanblue eyes
singing George's words again
"Someone to watch over me"
making my bloodred heart
reflect the violet ache of my soul

the shades of melody and music. . .
