Author's note: Although I have used the royal we in this poem, for the sake of form, I am not assuming that my opinions necessarily reflect those of the forum.Thank-you

Maureen's gone
so is Long John
at passions, things must change
my heart bleeds
for those in need
but more for those estranged

passion's pride
meets needs inside
but also wears some out
personalities
have histories
we know not one thing about

although we reach
and try to teach
their problems are not ours
when they're gone
we must move on
give other's hearts and flowers

we grieve a while
but later smile
when talent we impress
new writers here
we fill with cheer
and thoughts of tenderness

but oh the place is colder
for people who are lost
before we get much older
we need to count the cost

I'm not complaining
or friendship straining
to say these words I feel
it's just it seems
to live our dreams
we need, become more real

Kethry:

I thought this was a very good poem. I think and hope that one thing that can keep this from happening is for others to concentrate on the poem, support and encourage the person, but remember above all, behind the poem is a person with real feelings and problems and yes, we all have them.  No one, and I mean no one is more sensitive than I am and I have never been hurt verbally by anyone on Passions, just the opposite, I've found nothing but the most respectful comments, and I hurt for those who experienced something different.
Sometimes we just don't know why someone left, life, moving on, and we miss them!
I was going to leave for an extended period myself to study poetry.  I've found I learn more about it here than anywhere. So here I am
Good to have you back.

Kethry,
At times there are moments we need to endure. We may not all agree. From my early experience here at Passions, I have found some very caring people in fact everyone has been superb. Supporting each other. Loved the poem.

I may not post often, but I'm an avid reader here.  It's sad when poets I enjoy leave and sadder when it's because they were hurt.  Loved this poem Keth.  It brings home the way we need each other.

P.S.  welcome back to you as well.  It is a happy time when a poet returns.

Great to see you back, Kethry! Your poem is so true, it is sad to see some one leave here. I enjoy so many poets work here and it's sad not to see new poems posted by them.
I may not get here as often as I would like but I do love this place and I think the people are amazing.
Again, welcome back.

PIP is different things to different people... but we're all real people with real feelings... and occasionally, that's forgotten. Sometimes we find healing here... other times, we find hurt.
Excellent poem!

Kethry, oh this is so good, there's much truth you've written here. I do miss some of the people who've left, but I've always believe that everyone must follow their own path. If and when they return they will be back because this is where they need to be. I hope I have never said or written anything that offends anyone, because doing so would hurt me too. Still if I have ever done so I'm sorry.
I really like this one, it's written so well.
By the by, welcome home, you know I've missed you. Take care

Thanks everyone for your kind words,
this was not aimed at anyone in particular, I too have received many words of encouragement from this place. It's just when I came back and I read the sadness and the hurt which may or may not have been there (my perception's not all that clear these days) I felt I had to write this. I guess my point was that behind the poems there are people who have their own issues that we know nothing about. It was a message to myself more than anything else. And now that I've rambled off the page, I'll stop   Again thanks.

I must say I agree with you totally - Maureen is (I hope still) a friend of mine as well - and I do believe she wasn't adequately supported - altho I blame no one for that. some are very very sensitive, some are very thick skinned - and we'd do well to be aware
I intend to propose another suggestion on this subject - we'll see if anyone salutes
