I was listening to the Eels song "selective memory" (anyone here listen to them?) and it inspired/reminded me to write this. That song really made sense to me...

It feels warm and dark
up here in my head
so i know that i'm lying
asleep in my bed

When sleeping i'm happy
cause here things occur
that don't normally happen
like being with her

I wake in my dream
and then look around
a soft orange glow
a faint crackling sound

I see there's a fire
the coals glowing dim
and nought breaks the silence
but the faint crackling

I close my eyes
now unable to see
i hear gentle breathing
from just next to me

I look to the side
and lying right there
is the one that i love
and i touch her long hair

So soft and so real
my heart skips a beat
as she stirs and awakens
and then our eyes meet

She smiles a slow smile
still not quite awake
and i feel that she loves me
and there's no mistake

I smile in return
and gaze into her eyes
and she gazes back
and i see her face rise

As her lips approach me
and then as we kiss
i want to stay always
in this moment of bliss

The intensity of love
brings a tear to my eye
she looks up again
and says please don't cry

And as we lie down
in front of the flame
my heart fills with love
converted from pain

The bliss that i feel
is due solely to her
she changed the way
that me and pain were

With the title, I honestly didn't expect anything so sweet and nostalgic. Jhonbus, I too am inspired to write by so many songs I listen to... and I do like the Eels  . This was so nice, thank you for sharing!

well I'm very glad you liked it so much! I just listened to "jeannie's diary" also by eels, and my typing finger is itching already...

JH~

beautiful poetry you've penned here. i could relate to this one oh so well. in our dreams things are often as should be until alas we have to awake to real life *sighs*. here's hoping your dreams turn into reality. take care.
