The drugs will destroy all of your dreams, What your are taught is to lie and scheme, Stealing from other's to get your highs, Never knowing one day soon you will certainly die. Needle tracts, infection, and no where to go, Back to your friends who lie to you so, Selling their drugs to someone like you, Knowing you will come back very, very, soon. The children look on and see all of this, There is nothing their innocent eyes don't miss, Confused and bewildered at what they behold, The parents concerned at the drugs being sold. Not a care in the world as they sit with their highs, Even hearing all the screams and the cries, A mother looks on with tears rolling down, At her beautiful son dying on the ground. She stares at him as though it's a dream, As the body lies there the blood pours out, She screams at the sight and goes to her knees, Holding his hand tight she begs and she pleads. She says a prayer to God above, "Dear Lord don't the son I love", She holds him close to her chest, When all at once he takes his last breath. She looks at her baby one last time, She whispers I love you and kisses him goodbye, Mama will be with you when the angels come, God is waiting so be happy my son. The pain in her heart is killing her so, No one around to comfort her I'm told, She cannot hold on as the teardrops fall, But with God's help she will make through it all. All children must turn away, From drugs that will kill them slowly each day.... |

oh god roselee you've had me in tears My son is only 7 and I fear his teenage years that he doesnt fall into drugs. A heart wrenching poem, excellently written! Maree "If my words could blanket the skies and fill every corner and crevice of this earth, still this won't be enough" "Maree Russo" |
