Angel Harp

She always said some day they’ll come
To take me to that place
And angel halo beams will be
A’glowin on my face

They’ll carry me to heaven’s door
And there I’ll meet my King
But first they’ll play the angel harp
While little angels sing

I can almost hear the music now
A’ringin’ in my ear
I can almost feel those angel wings
Soothing all my fear

They’ll blanket me with angel quills
To shield me from the cold
The angel feathers soft and white
To wrap around my soul

When they come, my dear sweet child
You’ll know that I am safe
‘Cause you’ll hear that lovely angel harp
When I’m to leave this place

She passed away when winter came
One night of snowy storm
And never got my Christmas gift
A shawl to keep her warm

They came and carried her away
Then gazing at the sky
Through snow-piled icy window panes
I softly mourned and cried

The moon shown through the haze that night
Wind blustered ‘cross the crusts
In whispery whisps it lifted snow
In sparkling diamond gusts

Beyond the sound of crystal flakes
That danced in misty glow
A sound so fine and glorious
Spun through the ice and snow

The lovliest strains I ever heard
The plucking of a harp
Sent chills of truth right through my soul
And warmth right through my heart

The music slowly disappeared
Into the winter night
I knew my Grandma would be safe
In angel's halo light

I walked into her darkened room
Before the break of day
And there upon her pillow
So exquisitely displayed

There was a feather snowy white
A quill so fine and soft
I knew ‘twas not from feathered bird
But from a place aloft

I still recall the words she said
Before her final breath
My child, you’ll learn the beauty
And the peacefulness of death

Let love from out your spirit sing
And you will fly on angel’s wing
Let kindness lace each deed you do
And angel harps will play for you

You must know that I would find your sentiments to be exquisite in this Liz. What a beautiful and inspiring picture you've painted here, from angel's songs to feathered miracles. I truly enjoyed these visions and the message they carried throughout. Lovely!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Oh, how beautifully sad and devoted these words are, it's so lovely and so lyrical, Elizabeth, this is wonderful.

You are living proof that one does not need a brush and paints to be an artist. Fabulous work!

Thank you all for your king replies to this poem. Some of it is true. I returmed from a trip to Peru, and had purchased al alpaca shawl for my Grandmother. But she died before Christmas and never received it. Late that night, I looked out the window, and in the wind I heard the angels singing and harps playing. You may think this absurd but it is true.
Thanks for reading and commenting

Liz

Elizabeth, so beautiful this vision.
Soft angel wings to carry and hold a loved one so dear.
Precious and lovely are the ones he keeps.
Sad for now, but laced with love and a promise to meet again one day, when angels will place this sweet one back in a mothers embrace.

Elizabeth, this is utterly beautiful, so tender so pure. Written in angelic letters, with an angels quill. I love this.
Take care

THank you very much, three girls and a cowboy, all having been touched by this poem. That is the greatest compliment.
Thank you all
