My daddy went away today I don't know where he's gone He said goodbye and not to cry And then he left our home Six months ago my daddy left He never turned around His truck drove off, left us in dust And now my daddy's gone A year ago I said goodbye To the man who is my father I haven't heard from him since then And neither has my mother The family's hired detectives To try and find my dad It's been a year and a half now And the familys really sad. Two years ago my dad drove off A lot has changed since then His mothers' dying from a broken heart I wish someone would hear from him Three years have passed since that last day When I was still his little girl Now I can't help but silently wonder Who brightens his part of the world He hasn't called and hasn't wrote We all think he's dead Not a sound in the past four years Has anyone heard from my dad Graduation came and went My birthdays have been and gone It's been too many years to count Since my daddy left our home My moms found a new boyfriend And my grandmas passed away I moved into my own apartment Then my sister called today She found my dad in a southern state He's alive and well Seems all the time that he's been gone He was kind of ill. He wants to come back home now To have what he left behind I can't believe he has the nerve To say he changed his mind. The man I saw at the re-union Sure does resemble my dad Looks the way he oughta look If he were alive instead of dead. I know I oughta forgive him Look past all the tears and pain But he could've written once or twice To say we'd see him again The family re-unions finally over Some of us said what we wanted to say Now the circles' starting all over again My daddy went away today. With a little piece of tomorrow, You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye. Because today won't last forever, And the past will only make you cry. |

i remember reading this the first time around...it tugs at the heartstrings... it shouldnt be on page 5 w/ no responses..... hugs to you, dg she doesnt want the kind of love she can live with--she wants the kind she cant live without -clint black |
