Standing here on I-One-Oh-
My thumb up in the air…
My lips are moving silently-
A curse or, maybe, prayer?

My suitcase, bedroll, riggin’ bag-
And less than fifty bucks…
It barely pays my entry fees,
I’ll need a lot of luck.

But like that rolling stone, they say
Will never gather moss…
A man can’t be a winner-
Unless, first, he suffers loss.

Here I’m crowding forty, hard
Still, “going down the road”.
Regrets, and sad, old memories,
Comprise a heavy load.

I was good when I was young-
Alas, those days are gone-
But pride, and nothing left to lose…
Still keep me going on.

Abilene, and Tucson town-
Big D, and San Antone…
Where ever there is bucking stock,
Is where I call my home.

That semi’s slowing down, I think-
Yeah, he just hit the air…
I’ll climb up in his tractor,
I’ll be nice and warm in there.

He says, I’m bound for Waco-
As I climb into the truck…
I reply, That’s where I’m headed-
This might start a change of luck.

I ride to live, and live to ride
I like them broncs that buck…
A rolling stone, who rolls alone-
So, neighbor, wish me luck!

I don't think you need my good wishes if you ride like you write!

I like this, it's a good read, well done. And if you need luck, I wish you luck.

Awsome Gunslinger. I am impressed beyond words. This speaks of your past, your present and your future. It gives the reader an idea of the measure of your passion for the ride.

BRAVO BRAVO

Hey there Gunslinger - You speak like my dad. He rode the circuit many years. And this sings like one of my favorites... Chris Ledoux. 'Guess every cowboy does have a bit of poet in his soul.
