Is it a blessing? or a curse?
Supposed gift of mine…
Ability to think, and write…
The things I think, in rhyme.
Ability to phrase my thoughts-
Yet leave the meaning clear…
With rhyme and meter, pleasantly-
They fall upon the ear.
And, also, to lay feelings bare-
To take my words of rhyme…
To paint a tapestry so real-
It takes one back in time.
To touch the feelings deep within-
And make real teardrops start.
Arouse one’s anger, and to stir-
Emotions from the heart.
Yet, I, much like Cassandra-
Find others oft adverse-
And often moved to anger, or hatred
By my verse.
Perhaps ‘tis true, that I should cease-
Close inspiration’s door-
And put away the pad, and pen…
And speak my verse no more.

"You come into this life crying, while the world rejoices. Your goal in life should be to live it in such a fashion, as to leave this world rejoicing,

I can understand your frustration, but I hope you're not saying that you're not going to write anymore! I would miss your poetry if you did.

You have an ability
that not many can do.
It is your responsibility
to continue it through.

I enjoy your poems very
much.

It is a blessing, to be sure, indeed a gift. Don't ever close that door of inspiration.  Keep writing and sharing and let the chips fall where they may. Great poem, John!
