Bald Eagle - Free

(Inspired by Bateman Prints)

Soaring high in the mountain valley
Spotting his meal makes a downward sally
Updrafts carry over forests and field
Returning to nest his visage beguiled

Knowing a freedom humans cherish
Yet seeking prey lest he perish
On a tree branch looking fearsome
Appearing alone but never lonesome

He defines to all this eagle's domain
Over all his area he does reign
In rocky crag acting tenderly
Feeding young treating so gently

Sharing wind the eagles kingdom
Can we but envy these creatures' freedom?

     Congratulations on 1,000 posts!

Wonderfully picturesque Wilfred!
You've painted this magestic creature
with beautiful words in tribute to it's wondrous traits.
'Tis no wonder he is the symbol for freedom.
Beautiful imagery!

Best wishes,

Wonderful imagery Wilfred!

From your words the beauty pours
As the majestic eagle soars
For he is King in his domain
His freedom wished we could attain

Beautiful image you've left me with!

Kit-

With such a response from you - I will surely have to mark my 2000th when it occurs-    Thank you

Marge -

I can only say you are too kind - thank you

Liz-

There are prints of two graphic artists in my home - Bev Doolittle and Robert Bateman.
Their graphic work is poetry to me. If I introduce a love of their work to but one other poet - I feel my humble words have done their job.

Mark -

I'm quick in some things - slow in others - From reading your wonderful poetry posts I know you know the quick and slow ways as well

WhtDove-

Nothing pleases me more than a poetic response - Thank you very much

Charisma-

I sincerely hope you get the opportunity beyond TV - Life is too short to be bounded by living only among people
Thank you

I've always loved the freedom and strength that an Eagle dispalys.
Reminds me of an old post of mine. Me thinks I might dig it out.
Very Well Done Wilfred and congrats on the 1000!

Hi Wilfred~
It's TRACIE here (spelt ie)   I blame my father for that, in all the emotion of being a father for the first time he couldn't remember how to spell it   so I got Tracie
Well this poem is just wonderful, I really enjoyed it and the imagery just fantastic..well done
Oh and also CONGRATULATIONS on 1000 posts
Tracie~

Did you think I'd been wandering, and wasn't reading?  I wanted to see this soar without any input from me, and it has done so, and wondrously, I might add.

Congratulations on a job well done!
