In the space between moments

Defiled daydreams,
coated in the slime of lies
and knowing love as only a vice--
a blemished, wicked emotion
that brings no hope
of salvation.

Putrid, twisted images
of ideals once held cherished
are flashed across the sky
now spread thick
with a nauseating, ashen hue.

A wasteland of souls we are
and nothing more....
Eyes sewn shut with the threads
of our own moral fibers.

“Why do not you see me as I am!?”
I rage against the ruby sun,
who’s curling rays fall away
with not a sideways glance.

And then I too, fall away...

Giving no more faith
to the waning fingers of light,
I wade through the stagnant blood
of this wasteland...
Realizing how pointless it is
to even remember the dawn
that once held me close.

Wow! Powerfully written Krista, such depth in your expression. Incredible imagery you've woven into these words, really well done!

Best wishes,

Whoa Krista. This is the most powerful piece I have read of yours...and that says much. Well written.

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...

~Great wording. Full of emotion. Expressed with such a real feel to it. This one sort of makes me sit back for a minute to ponder the thoughts. Well done here. Take care of yourself. *Peace.
